When MOTD went ‘silent’ one weekend because all the pundits went out in support of Lineker for something or the other, it was brilliant, it was like watching a live match.

US President Donald Trump says an agreement with Iran has been "largely negotiated" and details will be announced soon. The deal would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he said on Saturday, without giving further details. Believe this when it happens

Burnham blames failed politics for leaving places like Ashton behind. Is he including the 13 years of New Labour govt in that? The years he served as mayor? He's more relatable than Starmer, but that's not hard. Cut through the spin and he's just offering more tax and spend.

He can talk much better than Starmer however policy wise what’s the difference … what are his views on women’s rights, EU … changed his mind again in that or has he? Wasted millions of tax payers money, Man City council in debt, homeless, grooming gangs, illegal migration

Starbucks are banning pets so as to conform to their upcoming Halal accreditation.🤨 Absolutely disgusting.
Community note
Starbucks is not implementing a company-wide pet ban for halal certification; the sign shown is from one outlet in Singapore, which the company has clarified does not reflect their policy as pets remain welcome. theonlinecitizen.com/2026/05/13/sta… asiaone.com/lifestyle/star… starbucks.com.sg/pet-friendly-s…

Starmer meets ministers and warns any leadership challenge would 'plunge us into chaos' You have to laugh, is there no depths this man will sink to? He has long plunged us into chaos. He is in denial. Walter Mitty.

Keir Starmer says he won’t walk away & plunge the UK into chaos. This man is so delusional & in denial not to realise we are already in chaos totally due to him. It’s extraordinary that he even shows his face. He has no shame 😳

David Attenborough turns 100 on Friday. This tribute in Richmond brought a lump to my throat. He’s one of few heroes I’ve met: just as generous & lovely in person as on screen. I wish every politician who calls him a national treasure wld act on his urgent pleas for the planet.

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.
The Greens will raise the minimum wage to £15 for all workers 💪

All these Labour MPs are being whipped into extolling the virtues of the disastrous renters bill. Are they just plain scared or just plain stupid? Labour leaving yet another mess. Returning people to poverty. Rents will go sky high but they are too thick to see it.
