Congratulations to 🇺🇦 Ukraine and 🇲🇩 Moldova on the upcoming opening of the first cluster of EU accession negotiations, which will mark the official start of the next phase of their membership process.
This is a major geopolitical achievement for both candidate countries and the European Union.
A stronger, more united Europe will bring benefits in security, stability, prosperity, and cooperation for all.

Today, the European Union took a major step forward.
All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.
At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.
It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.
This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.
And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.
Enlargement is a strategic choice.
By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.
In a world marked by growing uncertainty, a larger European Union is in our common interest.
Enlargement remains one of the EU’s greatest success stories and our best investment in our shared future.

I welcome 🇺🇦 @verkhovna_rada’s decision to ratify the Loan Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding underpinning the Ukraine Support Loan’s macro-financial assistance.
✔️ This step demonstrates its support for structural reforms aimed at building a more resilient economy also in the context of Ukraine’s path towards EU accession.
💪 Work continues, now preparing the first disbursement.
I am grateful to all the MPs who so promptly ratified the agreement with the European Union on €90 billion in support for Ukraine over two years. These funds will strengthen our resilience and help protect the lives of our people, rebuild what has been destroyed by Russian strikes, and defend our independence. This was one of the most important votes – one that demonstrates the constructive nature of our joint work and our readiness to hear one another. Unity in Ukraine is what always works for Ukraine. I am also grateful to our European partners for their readiness to stand with Ukraine and provide meaningful support for our defense, our diplomacy, and our recovery. Ukraine is defending Europe with all its strength, and full support for Ukraine will certainly strengthen all of Europe as well. Glory to Ukraine!
