Restore on X: is it time for Patriarchy? Interesting new research from the Society of Saint Pius X Restore Leaflets: As a woman, we need to stand up to right-wing fatphobia

Their strategy is just to poach women from Reform by coming at them from the left. They will post on here that they care about young white men but they’ll call attack you for a joke on Facebook to avoid embarrassing themselves at the ballot box. They don’t give a fuck about you.

The commentary around these cases has drawn out an interesting strand of English psychology. Middle class people know that they are not violent and do not commit serious crime: this leads to a belief that if a Middle Class person does something, it cannot be a crime.

This is why apologia for Palestine Action convicts takes the line of “these are nice types” rather than “their activity was justified”

Jury Defenders don’t even appeal to principles of English justice any more, thy just look at you like a fat Brendan Fraser
One of the jurors at the previous trial that bizarrely failed to convict the Palestine Action criminals being sentenced is speaking in their defence outside court today. How is this even possible legally?

It's the incredible geopolitical heft of Finland, Greece and Portugal which has achieved this.
Britain spent a decade choosing to be smaller in the world. Right now the rules on communications, energy and trade are being rewritten. By China. By Russia. By countries that take their own security seriously. We need to be at that table. That's a choice we must make. Strong countries get cheap energy. Weak countries pay whatever the strong ones decide.

A fundamental issue in British politics is the public hate the effects (high energy prices, high immigration, high crime) of the policies they love (climate change, human rights)

if you can’t work out why 21 residents objected to a children’s home, i am afraid you really shouldn’t be working in public policy
This is ridiculous. A children's home, for ONE child was BLOCKED after 21 objections were sent. The complainants said that the children's home would "not be aligned with the elderly demographic of the area" It was one child. ONE child. Why are we so hostile to children?

I wonder if there was anything going on in Ireland between 1921 and 1922.

In 1921 and 1922, men - and it was basically always men - were strolling around Belfast murdering women and girls left, right n' center. The 'why' of it mostly feels irrelevant to me.

Whenever I see clips from Zero Dark Thirty or Homeland I remember this thread and the actual incompetence and thuggishness of the CIA
In 2003, Khalid El-Masri was living in Ulm with his wife and four children. El-Masri was having a bad time - he had lost his job and argued with his wife. So on New Years Eve, he took a coach to Skopje for a week holiday. Things were about to go very wrong for El-Masri.

Essity is the parent company of Bodyform, and the 2025 study was another marketing campaign. The study consisted of a single social media influencer comparing her own posts - and as you can see here, the methodology was completely unsound.

In fairness to the tampon maker: these press releases aren't meant to be informing legislatures - they're for publicity. But it shows how poor MPs are at reading their own sources that this was the basis of a parliamentary debate.
