Video now available of this @testbiotech webinar, with biosafety experts explaining why the future of our biodiversity is at risk from lower environmental safety standards for GMOs that would allow far-reaching interventions in both plants & microorganisms testbiotech.org/en/events/we…

For me, the most amusing part of this story is how government/industry/media simultaneously try to dismiss @Beyond_GM as irrelevant, then blame us for sabotaging the EU trade agreement they stuffed-up ages ago. Pathetic. We're doing our job (well, apparently). Get a life guys.
We've been wondering how industry & government would spin their loss at the High Court. To be clear: The ruling does not impact research/field trials. The EU has long resisted the UK’s cherry-picked carveouts in the proposed realignment. If the carveout of PBO rules doesn't happen, this - not the finding that the current UK Regulations were made unlawfully - is why. Either way, the Regulations will need to be altered. fwi.co.uk/news/farm-policy/h…

Farage told people to react with "cold hard rage" to the appalling murder of Henry Nowak. Since then multiple officers & a police dog have been injured in violent disorder. Sign the open letter now & tell him to stop stoking hate & division: act.38degrees.org.uk/act/sto…

And this is not merely opinion. It is laid bare in the confidential documents turned over directly as a result of @Beyond_GM’s case. Nothing mattered except fealty to the biotech industry, including telling the truth to the Minister involved.
“The government chose speed over rigour. It prioritised reducing burdens on biotech developers before investigating fully the consequences for everyone else. Today's judgment makes clear that the concerns of the public, farmers, food businesses and organic sector are legitimate.”

“Alright, I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophecy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show”. If you’re a Scooby, you’ll know. RIP dear Anthony Head.

So worth reading the comments that supporters of @Beyond_GM’s judicial review are making. They want transparency, labelling and choice. Take a look - and while you’re there drop a few £££’s into the legal fund!
Time is running out! Judicial reviews are complex, time consuming and expensive. But they can also create change. That's why we are challenging the hidden GMOs in our farming and food system. Read more about our case and why people are supporting us. If you agree that GMOs should be visible and traceable in our food system help us keep going by contributing to our legal fund today. crowdjustice.com/case/stop-h…

Very strong story about gene edited animals, raising key questions. Must read.
This investigation gives a glimpse of the future. We won’t have a choice over gene edited animals unless we keep pressure up on government to ensure environmental, animal & consumer rights are protected. stories.agtivistagency.com/g…

Synthetic biology isn’t just a “tool”. It reshapes every decision we make about what/who conservation is for. Tread carefully.
When we use conservation biotechnology for conservation, are we preserving nature – or creating a new kind of human-made 'nature'? The answer will shape not only the future of conservation, but our understanding of humanity’s place in the living world. abiggerconversation.org/when…

Proud to be part of the excellent CARMA project, as part of the oversight group. The report on the Citizen’s Forum discussions represented citizen views honestly, giving them full legitimacy and power. Well done!
The future of cultivated meat won’t be decided by marketing, PR or technical approval alone. Citizens participating in the CARMA Citizen Forum on cultivated meat showed that acceptance is always conditional & trust must be continually (re)earned. abiggerconversation.org/cult…

🚨 An investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism has revealed the shocking scale of 'mega-dairy' farms across the UK. Beef and dairy farming are responsible for 75% of the most serious agricultural pollution incidents - yet intensive livestock farms still face far weaker regulation than other polluting industries. River Action is calling for environmental permitting to be extended to beef and dairy farms, but regulation alone is not enough. We also need policies that support farmers so they are not forced to intensify in the first place. It’s time for proper oversight, accountability, and urgent action to protect our rivers from #agripollution. thebureauinvestigates.com/st…

Parliament Hill Lido is one of my happy places. I went there every day over the long weekend - except yesterday. My understanding = more than just “unacceptable” fight, thus today’s closure. Good wishes to the brilliant staff there & no quarter given to the punks who caused it.

And this…This is partly an infrastructure issue. London needs more dedicated outdoor swimming facilities (there’s a group trying to bring back the long buried Lido in our local park). But seriously, what the actual feck is wrong with people?! theguardian.com/world/2026/m…

Intense & full of contradictions! At one point govt claimed Zeichner was under no pressure to hurry up & get the regulations through despite concerns. Next, it claimed deregulation was urgent citing a letter to him from parliamentary lobbyists pushing the need for speed above all
It was an intense couple of days in court for us this week. Importantly, it revealed just how fragile and contradictory the government’s position really is. Read more about what we heard and why this case matters. mailchi.mp/beyond-gm/gmos-ar… #StopHiddenGMOs

Not just distain. Government tried to weaponise #organic standards, insinuating since these already prohibit #GMOs, the sole responsibility for keeping GM-PBOs out of the supply chain rests with the organic sector, while failing to say the new regs remove tools required to do so
Replying to @Beyond_GM
4/ Government's disdain for organic farming was on full display. It argued, amongst other things, that certification, which provides strict standards, ethical commitment and a guarantee of quality and environmental benefit was unnecessary.
