NIPEC support all nurses, midwives and support staff as essential in providing high quality, compassionate care to people across NI, regardless of their background. Everyone has the right to feel valued and no one should fear obstruction going to their workplace. We strongly condemn any form of racism and express our support for our internationally educated staff who make invaluable contribution to nursing and midwifery care delivery across NI. @Kieranpmccormic

Large drunk man sits next to woman on train, leans all over her, grabs her hair, won’t leave her alone…and this is the headline the @BBCNews chose… (I can’t believe they’ll keep it so here’s the screenshot)

Dr Sanjoy Kumar, father of Grace, is so impressive. On the Today programme he starts by acknowledging all of the health professionals who do an excellent job, before talking about the ways in which his family were let down by health services.

Righteousness in the positive sense of the word. Well done Mr Justice Bright.
NEW. The woman who was strangled, beaten and raped by Paul Quinn in Salford in 2003 is a "hero", said Mr Justice Bright. His remarks at the start of the sentencing hearing at Manchester Crown Court must be read. I don't think I've read anything like them before from a judge in a Crown Court:

Breathtaking speech by judge about women who testify about violent crimes against them by men. "The only word that fits is hero. That is the term that I use to refer to her from this point onward...mainly because she deserves it."

This is awful. The last ever Denby Pottery going to the kiln. Why is there not uproar? Where’s the government in this?? We all have Denby in our homes, in family heirlooms, as our history and now it’s closing through lack of support, such a sad sad day. #SaveDenby @denbypottery

Look, it's perfectly simple. I wasn't going to become an MP, then I was given £5 million and I coincidentally decided to run for Parliament. I then bought a house for £1.4m cash after saying I was "skint" and my girlfriend bought a house for £885,000 with money she didn't have and which I originally said I had bought. The gift was totally unconditional, as well as being for security and then it was a reward for Brexit. Nobody should have known about it, but the Russians hacked my phone, according to 'counter-espionage experts' who don't exist. See?

Looks like the 10-Year Workforce Plan and the new DHSC target operating model, both due to be published this month, are being delayed until early June — at least. They will likely take even longer given the change in SofS. Won’t come as a surprise but still significant.

In research from the @OECD group of developed countries, Britain ranks joint bottom for nursing pay when compared with the average UK wage.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Nurses across England could carry out targeted strikes against “rogue” hospital trusts that try to avoid upgrading pay for band 5 nurses. Chief of @theRCN interview in Sunday Times: thetimes.com/article/86e1bcc…

I hope this isn’t true. There are times when it’s more important to put country before party. This is one of them. Burnham’s longstanding commitment to a fairer voting system could transform our democracy & counter dire threat of a Reform UK government theguardian.com/politics/202…

The Public Office (Accountability) Bill will create new laws that potentially significantly impact NHS managers and those who have for years covered up, lied and avoided accountability in past scandals:

Happy #InternationalNursesDay! Thank you nurses for the amazing job you do. It's one year since the Govt adopted my Bill to protect the title 'nurse', after years of campaigning with @protectnurse. I'm committed to ensuring these vital protections are implemented without delay.

The GPhC has experienced a 77% increase in #FitnessToPractise concerns since 2023/24 - this accords with reports I'm hearing from multiple regulators that they're seeing a dramatic increase in complaints, but reasons why are unclear. chemistanddruggist.co.uk/new…

Exactly the convo round ours this morning.
There is an escape route for Labour from certain disaster at the general election: use their Commons majority to ram through PR. It’s cynical, they’d never govern alone again, but it locks Reform out of No10. The left (Lab, Gr, LD) still have a majority over the right in the UK
