Super excited to get this out there!
Common Gap from Deep24 (@effortcompany24) is a single app for college and graduating high school students to apply to take a gap year at fast-growing startups. Participating companies include Corgi Insurance, Zingage and Superbuilders. This is a bet on giving young talent responsibility, and believing that they can grow into the role. Parenting is so underesearched relative to total system level utils Literally shapes the whole arc of life (happiness) and contribution to society of kids and how they parent their kids (if they have kids at all)

Visited the main Austin campus last year (it was awesome) and have brought it up to some talented kids who are upset with how much time they waste in normal schools, even strong ones like TJ. But v hard to have the agency to switch into an experience like this
This is the definitive conversation on Alpha School with @jliemandt, who is the school’s principal and backer. What if kids could learn in two hours a day, test in the top 1% nationally, spend their afternoons mastering other great skills, AND love school more than vacation? What sounds impossible is already happening at Alpha. If you are a parent like me, it’s impossible not to wonder how to make sure your kids will benefit from this enormous innovation. We explore everything in exhaustive detail—the learning science, the role of software and AI, the central role of motivation, the challenges of scaling to ALL kids, and more. Joe is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in history, who has now decided to devote his next two decades to ushering in a new era of education. I hope this becomes a historically important episode. Enjoyed this read. I was struck by Cairo’s atypical path and how her talents went unrecognized for so long although others did occasionally point the way for her. Even after solving the problem, many colleges rejected her due to the lack of a high school diploma. Also, the doodles on her math solution crack me up. She wasn’t lying when she said math was an expansive escape for her. I can’t help but wonder if that helped at all in finding a solution, that way of thinking.

Most founders think AI agents will replace their entire team. That's not where the magic happens. The magic happens in workflow gaps - meeting summaries, dashboard monitoring, support routing. The boring stuff that drains energy. But here's what kills most AI initiatives: if your AI lives in another tool, adoption dies. The breakthrough? AI that pings your Slack when tickets arrive, sends WhatsApp updates to field teams - without anyone logging into separate systems. That's why we built @a1baseapi. We solve the communication layer that makes AI agents actually work.

Has givewell done an analysis of this?
Apparently it's not illegal to pay others to sterilize themselves, and "Project Prevention" has paid 8,000 crack addicts $300 to get IUDs, vasectomies, and tubal ligations > The organization has used slogans such as "Don't let pregnancy get in the way of your crack habit"

So much sadness/discontentment is caused by the divergence between our known capabilities and our lagging faculties to make use of said capabilities. The drowning child thought experiment is a great example
