“Without research I strongly suspect I would not be here today." Elaine is the Lead Nurse for @CambCancer. Despite being told she had five years to live, she's lived with cancer for almost 20 years. She says it's a "privilege" to work on the project. orlo.uk/UZcyS

ON @BBCPanorama tonight - the story of Paloma Shemirani, a young woman with an 8cm lymphoma inside her chest, and an 85% chance of a cure with chemo. Her mother Kate, a nurse and conspiracy theorist convinced her to do Gerson Therapy (juicing and enemas) instead. A few months later, Paloma died from a heart attack caused by the growing tumour. @mariannaspring and her team expose this case and the worrying trend of cancer patients turning to alternative cures that do not work. I was interviewed for the program, as I have researched a lot of these so-called cures for my book 'The Cancer Roadmap' We need to raise awareness of the dangers that follow when you get your medical advice online

Spot on… having incurable cancer makes us more aware of time being short but even if you don’t, time is precious so spend in ways that bring you joy and purpose
Life is precious Adults live for roughly 4000 weeks Don't waste the weeks you have left scrolling through the lives of strangers Go and text / call someone you love You have no idea what a wonderful impact you will have
