the discourse under this tweet is so interesting to me. maybe it’s bc i haven’t watched a ton of horror movies but ppl feel so limited to believe it’s demonic possession when demonic possession feels like SUCH a specific thing to me. i didn’t think about demons at all in this
//obsession spoilers willow nikki is not an old demon! director has said multiple times this has nothing to do w demons or possession. but also yes the creepiest part about this scene is not just the makeup but the way her lips don’t move when she’s talking

Obsession does not fulfill women's urge to hate men or whatever, it's a showcase of how indecisive men will try to take what they think they want, realize they don't want it, be too afraid to do anything about it, and get other people involved while being a coward the entire time

it wouldve been so easy for curry baker to just accept the 2 million to make Bear a 'good guy' or to just make Bear a basic 'Oh he didnt realise what he did and regrets it'. This scene making it explicit that Bear does not care about Nikkis personhood and autonomy is so good
The most haunting scene of Obsession.

It has to be the bedroom scene, the way Nikki’s face changes is what makes it so disturbing. I get the feeling that willow Nikki is an old demon

My sister told me someone said that it's another representation of Bear liking the *idea* of Nikki but not Nikki herself. It's why he doesnt actually know her relationship with her father or care when she's suffering
my favorite fucking shot of the movie

and then Sarah lowk decided that, after watching her bsf smash her face in with a bottle, the absolute smartest most best decision in the world would be to lure her bf out alone to a park at 3am instead of checking on Nikki 😭
One of the best scenes in #Obsession

The Knicks winning a championship while the World Cup cultural exchange is happening might be the legitimate antidote to the individualistic nihilism that’s poisoned so much of our country for the last decade or so People want community. They want whimsy. It’s fun to have fun
Update people are so happy they’ve just started running around the fountain in Washington square park 🧡💙🧡

to watch this movie and immediately think “this is what women think about ME” is so sus dude 😭😭😭 idek what to say the media literacy is so bad here
Obsession was extremely popular because it fufills the female notion that every lonely mid guy is secretly a rapist monster and deserves to be miserable and alone. It would have been a nothing movie if the genders were swapped. Conversely if the rapist monster had been 6'3, extremely attractive, and a millionare, it would have also been a wild hit with women.

i find it so frustrating that as women we bring up valid concerns about how we are generally treated by men and men’s reaction is to get mad and dismiss us entirely lol 😭 maybe open ur ears to a conversation buddy

it’s also what i find frustrating about the “not all men” thing. it’s like they don’t want to LISTEN to our concerns and immediately get offended and take it personally
