When a team suffers a devastating loss it cracks me up how a chunk of people say “relax, it was a great year!”
And then another chunk wants *everyone* fired / traded.
The truth is in the middle. This was horrendously disappointing, but still a ton of talent with the Avalanche.

It was a suicide note.
Turns out his wife died unexpectedly when he was 29.
He planned to end his life the same night.
But earlier that day, a coworker invited him to lunch.
Nothing deep.
Just:
"Come eat with us."
He said that tiny interruption delayed his plan long enough for him to reconsider.
Then he looked around the room and said:
"The scary part is none of you will ever know how many people are alive because you were accidentally kind to them."
Half the room was crying before he finished.
