"As only 2.4% of the American public, we simply can’t afford division at a time when our key issues demand a unified voice.” In @EJPhil, AJC's Director of U.S. Jewish Communal Engagement and Partnership, Meggie Fredman argues that rather than duplicating efforts, the Jewish community must focus on coordination, strategic investment, and partnership to truly move the needle. The Hamas jihadi psychopaths have released a video of murdered hostage Eden Yerushalmi. I won't amplify their propaganda by posting the video, but I will share a screenshot so you can see the torture and torment that Eden endured for almost a year before she was barbarically murdered. Eden was 24 years old and working as a bartender at the Nova music festival on Oct 7. When Hamas invaded Israel, she managed to stay on the phone with her sister for three hours while hiding among the bodies of her friends who had been killed. As the terror unfolded around her, she fled into a nearby forested area. Before being captured, she made a desperate call to the police, uttering her final words: "I'm running away, please find me, OK?" Eden, we are so very, very sorry that we found you too late. May you finally be at peace. Your memory will be a blessing.

This is abominable and psychological torture. It’s a war crime. Yet we have seen no condemnations from @icrc @ICRC_ilot @UN_SPExperts @hrw @amnesty or any of the rest of the so-called guardians of human rights and IHL.
Hamas filmed each hostage before they executed them. They terrorized and brutalized Hersh, Eden, Carmel, Alex, Ori and Almog until their last moment of life. Hamas is pure evil. And there is no reasoning or negotiating with evil.

Rachel Goldberg-Polin: "Ok sweet boy, go now on your journey. I hope it's as good as the trips you dreamed about because finally, my sweet boy, finally, finally, finally, finally you are free. I will love you and I will miss you every single day for the rest of my life, but you're right here. I know you're right here. I just have to teach myself how to feel you in a different way. And Hersh there is one last thing I need you to do for us. Now I need you to help us stay strong and I need you to help us survive"

Amazing news to wake up to! Bring them home! 🇮🇱
Noa Argamani (25), Almog Meir Jan (21), Andrey Kozlov (27), and Shlomi Ziv (40) were rescued in a special operation by the IDF, ISA and Israel Police from 2 separate locations in the heart of Nuseirat after being kidnapped by Hamas from the Nova music festival. They are in good medical condition and have been transferred to the 'Sheba' Tel-HaShomer Medical Center for further medical examinations. We will continue to make every effort to bring the hostages home.

NEW statement from President Biden, slamming the ICC: "The ICC prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous. And let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence — none — between Israel and Hamas.  We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security."

Strong statement from Secretary of State Tony Blinken slamming ICC re: pursuit of Bibi/Gallant arrest warrants: "The United States fundamentally rejects the announcement today from the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) that he is applying for arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials, together with warrants for Hamas terrorists. We reject the Prosecutor’s equivalence of Israel with Hamas. It is shameful. Hamas is a brutal terrorist organization that carried out the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and is still holding dozens of innocent people hostage, including Americans. Moreover, the United States has been clear since well before the current conflict that that ICC has no jurisdiction over this matter. The ICC was established by its state parties as a court of limited jurisdiction. Those limits are rooted in principles of complementarity, which do not appear to have been applied here amid the Prosecutor’s rush to seek these arrest warrants rather than allowing the Israeli legal system a full and timely opportunity to proceed. In other situations, the Prosecutor deferred to national investigations and worked with states to allow them time to investigate. The Prosecutor did not afford the same opportunity to Israel, which has ongoing investigations into allegations against its personnel. There are also deeply troubling process questions. Despite not being a member of the court, Israel was prepared to cooperate with the Prosecutor. In fact, the Prosecutor himself was scheduled to visit Israel as early as next week to discuss the investigation and hear from the Israeli Government. The Prosecutor’s staff was supposed to land in Israel today to coordinate the visit. Israel was informed that they did not board their flight around the same time that the Prosecutor went on cable television to announce the charges. These and other circumstances call into question the legitimacy and credibility of this investigation. Fundamentally, this decision does nothing to help, and could jeopardize, ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement that would get hostages out and surge humanitarian assistance in, which are the goals the United States continues to pursue relentlessly."

Tonight, I pray for the Jewish students, studying for exams while tuning out their classmates' misguided cries for intifada. Allowing the normalization of antisemitism and violent rhetoric on our campuses or anywhere else is reprehensible and dangerous.

Last night, I met with dozens of Jewish students from @GWHillel & @ChabadGW. I was amazed by the resilience of these young people but horrified by what I heard. I won't be posting photos from our meeting in light of the harassment some have faced. Here's what I learned:🧵

Some of these students live half a block from the encampment and must walk through it to get to class. If they are visibly Jewish (wearing a kippah or Star of David) they have been followed, threatened, or filmed & doxed online.

NYT Columnist and Duke Professor Frank Bruni says that college students viewing the world through an oppressor vs. oppressed paradigm has led them to advocating for Hamas and not even stopping to learn about what happened in Israel on October 7. "A lot of college students in this generation, there's a sort of paradigm they use, or lens they use to kind of evaluate the world. And it's one in which people who have less money, people who have less power, sometimes people who have darker skin must inherently be being wronged and are therefore most likely to be in the right. I think you saw that play out after October 7. … If you looked at what happened right after October 7, you saw a lot of young people not even take a moment to really acknowledge what had happened in Israel, and how horrific that was. They just kind of immediately applied this paradigm and began advocating not just for Palestinians, but in a perverse way, at times for Hamas."

Sorry to pile on, but aren’t we watching here the catastrophic failure of a university to develop an intelligent and self-critical mind? This isn’t freshman cosplaying. She’s a PhD student. She’s not the raw material on its way in. She’s the intellectual product coming out.
Reporter grills Columbia student after she demands the university help feed protestors occupying Hamilton Hall: "It seems like you're saying, 'we want to be revolutionaries, we want to take over this building, now would you please bring us some food'."
Community note
Her claims are misleading: (1) Per Columbia, campus dining is open (John Jay Dining Hall, Fac Shack, JJ's Place) dining.columbia.edu/news/service-c… (2) Humanitarian aid is for saving lives in the most dire situations (violent conflict, natural disasters). The students can leave if they want. worldvision.ca/stories/disast… humanitariancoalition.ca/from-humanitar…

.@HillaryClinton “What is so frustrating is that people have very little to no information about all of the efforts that were made, literally starting in 1948, but certainly moving most dramatically to the year 2000, to actually create a state for the Palestinian people.. “They have no idea about the collapse of the peace process, the rise of an intifada. They have no idea about then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon..withdrawing from Gaza. They have no idea of Hamas’ takeover of Gaza. They have no idea that another Israeli prime minister back when I was secretary of state, namely Netanyahu, was willing at least to keep talking about some kind of two-state solution..” jewishinsider.com/2024/02/hi…
