This is a remarkable photograph-not a woman in sight. China & US -not a single woman in the room.
A painting of the end of meritocracy: A meeting of the two largest economies and not one woman at the table.

☀️ Today in Utqiagvik (the northernmost city in the United States), the sun rose above the horizon at 2:57 AM and won’t set again for 84 straight days or until August 2nd! Here's a look at a timelapse showing the sunset and sunrise this morning. #akwx

The best reporters do this
Something I noticed about genuinely confident people: They ask the dumbest questions in the room. No hesitation. No protecting their image. They'd rather look stupid for five minutes than stay confused for five years.

Well-deserved -- outstanding coverage ... all of it.
We won the Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting @chicagotribune! Our entire newsroom covered Midway Blitz with everything we had. I’ve never been prouder of the Tribune or its commitment to the truth. It’s an honor to be part of this team.

NEW: Pope Leo XIV appoints the youngest bishop in the United States. Robert Boxie III, 46, is a new auxiliary bishop of Washington. Boxie has been outspoken against the White House’s attacks against racial diversity. “It’s really frustrating — especially this moment that we’re living in. The attacks on ‘DEI’ — I don’t even know what that means anymore. It’s a term that’s been hijacked. It means a lot of things to a lot of different people.” “I think at its core, it’s what America is all about. We are a diverse nation with people from all over the world. Diversity is a good thing. Diversity is of God.” “And the fact that it’s been turned into something negative — or something that should be avoided or not talked about — just flies in the face of who we are as Americans.” “So much of our history has been exclusive, especially when it comes to race. And it’s just un-American; it’s un-Christian; it’s anti-Catholic.”

We don't know for sure if today is the last day for Spirit Airlines, but If it feels like it's been a long time since the U.S. lost an airline this way, it's because it has. The last major airline failure in this country was Independence Air in January 2006.

This show belongs back in Chicago. Vegas? Cmon…
multiple big banner buyers are setting meetings with brands at Sweets & Snacks. feels very similar to pre pandemic activity. vegas is driving real attendance. this show is the opposite of Expo West as you actually set meetings and get shit done. If you are an early brand trying to get in front of buyers, this is one of the highest ROI shows right now. for larger brands, it’s one of the few places you can hit every channel in a single trip: c-store, grocery, natural, mass, club, drug.

That’s a pretty low bar.
Trump very easily could have blamed the media last night, but instead, he basically said "we're all in this together."

Happy 420 Day. As always, we celebrate the 53rd anniversary of when Gail & Dale sang "One Toke Over the Line,” on Lawrence Welk. Neither knew what the song was about. Welk thought the song was a “modern spiritual.”

This is where “uppercase” and “lowercase” came from. In the early days of printing, capital letters were kept in the upper compartments of the type case, while the smaller letters were placed below for easier access.
