My father's tenth yartzeit starts tonight. I like that it begins with Maariv. He used to say the Shma with me at bedtime, then tell me fantastic stories of kabalistic angels masquerading as lions. If you are interested in remembering him with me, please consider... Good deeds: Listen to someone who needs to be heard; share a kind word to change someone’s life. Or learn with a friend! Study this week’s parsha, or a Chassidic tale or one of my father’s teachings. Share with us in the comments what you're reading, or ask for a recommendation. Prayer: If you would like to pray but don’t have a regular practice of doing so, you can follow his guidance -- “If the only prayer you say throughout your life is ‘Thank You’, then that will be enough”. Charity: Please consider following and supporting @eliewieselfdn. We are amplifying young moral voices, fighting hatred in the media, and connecting educational initiatives across the United States and Israel. Thank you to all who continue his legacy in ways large and small.

Today marks 10 years since Elie’s passing according to the Jewish calendar, and the urgency of his work has never felt greater. We must do whatever we can to stop the RSF and the ongoing catastrophe in Sudan. Please visit bloodontheball.org (bloodontheball.org/) to learn more about the disturbing link between the upcoming NBA final and the atrocities in Sudan.   #NBA #Sudan

Rest in Peace, Marjane. Your work will continue to serve as a powerful witness of what the Iranian people endured. Now more than ever, we must continue to amplify the voices and writings of Iranian women. As Elie once said “Whoever listens to a witness, becomes a witness." @NatSanandaji @CombatASemitism

@Arsenal ended its Visit Rwanda sponsorship after public pressure over Rwanda’s alleged support for the M23 militia in DR Congo. Now it’s time to ask why @emirates is still on the jersey, since the #UAE is also sponsoring a genocidal militia in #Sudan, the Rapid Support Forces. @Arsenal: Make the right call. Drop @emirates. #UCLFinal

Imagine having your cultural dances outlawed… The Khmer Rouge regime tried to erase Cambodian culture. As Sophiline’s story shows, Cambodian traditional dance is an important medium for telling the stories that the regime tried to silence.

Before he became a Nobel Laureate and spoke to presidents, Elie Wiesel was an immigrant. After World War II ended, he spent years living as a stateless refugee in France along with hundreds of thousands of other survivors. In 1956, he arrived in the United States as a journalist, and as you'll see in the video, things were far from easy... When Elie became an American citizen, he never forgot what it meant to arrive in a country as someone displaced, vulnerable, and dependent on the compassion of strangers. These memories shaped how he spoke about immigration throughout his life, and how he advocated for others.

This Cambodian Remembrance Day, we mourn the lives lost under the Khmer Rouge. In 1980, Elie Wiesel visited refugee camps along the Thai border with Cambodia as part of a delegation called the "March for Survival". At that time, many people in the west remained ignorant of the horrors of the Khmer Rouge. Worse still were those who attempted to deny them. By visiting the refugee camps, Elie showed the world that this was a tragedy which required immediate moral action.

Yesterday, May 17, The Dialogue of Memories celebrated its world premiere at Benaroya Hall, Seattle. Our Executive Director LizAnn Eisen delivered opening welcome remarks for the performance. Inspired by Howard Reich’s conversations with Elie Wiesel, this moving new opera explores memory, trauma, resilience, and the possibility of hope across generations. Artistic performance, especially opera, has the unique ability to reach beyond facts and into emotion, allowing us to feel history as well as understand it. Through music and performance, The Dialogue of Memories invites us into the space where remembrance becomes connection. It calls on us to listen, to bear witness, and ultimately to act with greater humanity toward our neighbors. Congratulations to Howard Reich, Music of Remembrance, and each of the directors, writers and artists involved with the production. @howardreich @SeattleMOR @benaroyahall #HowardReich #ElieWiesel #Opera #Memory #Hope #WorldPremiere #BenaroyaHall #SeattleArts #ElieWieselFoundation

Statement from The Elie Wiesel Foundation on the Passing of Abraham H. Foxman z”l The Elie Wiesel Foundation mourns the passing of Abraham H. Foxman z”l, Holocaust survivor, longtime leader of the Anti-Defamation League, and a dear friend of Marion and Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel recognized in Abe Foxman a figure who turned the experience of survival into a lifelong public responsibility. In his foreword to Foxman’s *Never Again?*, Wiesel wrote of Foxman’s “courageous and tireless fight against anti-Semitism” and his devotion “to the defense of Jews and other minorities.” As a hidden Jewish child during the Holocaust, and later as one of the most prominent Jewish communal leaders in America, Abe Foxman helped shape postwar Jewish public life and the global struggle against antisemitism. His work reflected a conviction that historical memory carries public obligations. May his memory be a blessing.
