2 uber drivers refused. 1 drove past, 2nd stopped and argued.
I share this evidence because I want laws to be critiqued. I want us to examine real accountability & deterrent measures.
PS - I don’t want advice on how to educate better, nor how to pre-arrange “nice” drivers.
Of course theres more for me to improve on in my own communication
and I do actually spend a LOT of time reflecting on this & talking to folk whom I value. I’m conscious of how often we educate disabled person on how to do better instead of critiquing discriminatory behaviour.
neurodivergent people deserve to be trusted that they are capable and able to carry out their job functions. they may do it in a different way. they may break the unwritten rules. they may strictly follow rules others break. it may take them longer. they will get the job done.

The NDIS Review wants to force us to use registered providers. We all know how tragically that ended for Anne-Marie Smith. The evidence is clear, registration does not keep people safe. @Jen_Hargrave can explain. abc.net.au/news/2023-12-14/i…

My morning was spent reading EoIs for a support worker job listing. The job outlined a practical task - no info about my feelings.
Responses were loaded with assumptions like: “It must be so hard/difficult for you. I feel so blessed. I love to help ppl like you.”
My reply:
Not really on twitter X much these days. Finished phd & its been with examiners since october.
Post-phd, I got obsessed with studying australian native flora & fauna & dug out my old pastel set.
I really can spend days scribbling away, totally focused despite hands cramping.
"Disabled people will not accept ableism and segregation at the hands of government policies any longer. The disability community has done their bit, now it’s time for Federal and State Governments to do theirs." #DisabilityRC Thank you @senatorpennyqld@SenatorJordon@Greens
And while it's pleasing that there was agreement that Australian Disability Enterprises must end, disabled people should not have to wait until 2034 for equal pay!

Where is the outrage about this?! It's 2023, we've had Australia's most expensive Royal Commission, into violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability and we're still #segregating disabled people, treating them like this and calling it "specialist". Enough!
