#journorequests Do you have a different idea about how you should spend Christmas (traditions etc) compared to your partner/extended family? How have you navigated it? For a broadsheet. DMs open. #Christmas

Rosamund Pike is phenomenal in this. It grabs you by the throat and shakes you to the core. #nationaltheatre

Today, we happened to be in Hiroshima on its 80th anniversary memorial day. An incredibly sobering and moving experience. Remarkable how this city rebuilt itself to what it is today and its commitment to working for peace. #travel #japan

Great name for a bullet train. The bliss of a transport system that’s clean and punctual, and where you don’t have to listen to someone crunching crisps in your ear, or watching/listening to videos/music on speaker at volume. #travel #japan

In Tokyo and came across the original fruit sarnie that went a bit viral in the UK (the strawbs and cream one). A thick sliced white not the same as this. #travel #japan

My daughter is 15 and said, ‘there’s no way I would trust myself with a vote at 16,’ and I kind of admired that level of self-knowledge.

Chuckling at Andre Agassi getting ticked off with Andrew Castle doing a celeb count in the crowd as he’s desperately trying to comment on actual tennis. #Wimbledon

I think whoever was responsible for this Oura ring ad might need a refresh because these guys look like they’ve received some terrible news and are in deep distress. Maybe they’re stressing about their sleep scores. instagram.com/p/DLijK35g9g5/…

Imagining intro of huge due diligence questionnaires and random lie detection tests between publishers and their authors in the memoir genre. ‘Did you or did you not in fact….Ok, let’s switch to fantasy.’

Exam season is forever hot and sunny, and then as soon it’s over, the deluge arrives. #Alevels

Oh thank god for this after a deluge of formulaic ‘celebrity’ road trips.
I’m very proud to announce my new series #Scandinavia will start on @BBCTwo on 18th May … and on @BBCiPlayer of course. It’s Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and what I’m calling ‘the wider Nordic family’ — Finland and Iceland as well. From Svalbard in the very far north down to southern Denmark… 3 huge journeys. Thanks to the wonderful team inc @TheGardenTV who made it possible, and the brilliant Scandis we met along the way. . #Scandinavia #Denmark #Sweden #Norway #Finland #Iceland

Loving the in depth literary analysis of The Gruffalo this morning on @BBCr4today. Also amused at the clearly very middle class kids interviewed on their book club where one surmised that the Gruffalo had probably gone on holiday to Mauritius.

Particularly lovely this morning hearing people chatting in different languages, strolling along Oxford St in their casual clothes that they had accessorised proudly with their marathon medals.

Many an entertaining hour spent in this snug with my Faber writing buddies.
My favourite kind of pub is the kind that it's difficult to tell which century you're in.

I was really hoping Katy Perry was going to sing ‘Baby, you’re a firework,’ as she shot up into the sky today.
