the biggest trick the West ever pulled was disguising Thatcherism and the atomization of society as everything but brutal. Like, look around! The regime is capital and it will take the marrow from your bones.

they have and they are and they’ve already convinced themselves they’re doing humanity a favor
This might sound cynical but I sometimes wonder if the wealthy have, behind doors, realized that the climate is destroyed, and, as a result, started deliberately creating the conditions that will cull the population through war, famine, pestilence, while hoarding resources for themselves and their offsprings.

Just to be clear, I do not just haťe generative Al. I also haťe golf, lawns, space tourism, war, monoculture farming, clear cutting forests, building on floodplains, deep sea mining, developments that destroy habitats, and corporations bulldozing ecosystems for endless growth.

I think in society we often prize dogs' lives over strangers' lives. I also sincerely believe many people in the replies should be put down like the soulless antisocial cretins they are. What is this site. Fucking hell.
💔 LAPD killed a woman’s dog during a welfare check, all because she was yelling in her own apartment celebrating the Knicks’ Finals win. Then they just stand there over the body like it’s nothing. Absolute madness.

an underdiscussed aspect of modern capitalism is that most low-wage jobs tightly regulate what you're doing at all times while you're on the clock and most high-wage jobs consist of hours of unstructured time in front of the computer during which you can do whatever

Sir, thank you for coming from 1989 and warning us, but you needed to go BACK in time. It's already a well-oiled machine that runs itself.
The function of these teen takeover stories is to literally spread fear and hysteria to encourage the public to demand more police and curfews. It is an attempted expansion of the police state. Don’t be the fool who falls for it.

How do pundits go about guessing what most Americans are like? The most common approach has two steps. First, imagine someone very stupid. Second, imagine their cultural preferences are the opposite of a liberal's. That's it. This is not a very reliable heuristic, it turns out.
Most of those bemoaning what Trump is doing to the “people’s house” are elites who have utter contempt for the “people” (who love motocross and UFC). If you’re going to sniff your nose at the proletariat don’t invoke the sanctity of the “people’s house” - you look ridiculous

"I am definitely sympathetic to voters and democratic process, but I think people who don't tow the party line shouldn't be voted for. Shame on them."
I am definitely sympathetic to the adventures of shitposters but someone tweeting "F**k Kamala Harris" should simply be disqualified from winning a Democratic primary. Run in another party primary. New Yorkers, get it together. nytimes.com/2026/06/14/nyreg…

Sure, but as a platform this is political suicide. Don’t people get this?
the world being a better place is something that can literally only happen if America as we understand it is destroyed, there’s your positive vision for the country

The idea @samanthabrisini had is to set a guillotine up at the top of Rialto and book bets on the downhill results. #pittsburgh
As a libertarian I believe we need to #LegalizeIt.

Truly the opposite! People like Mindy need to be loud and people who believe that you have to kill the statist in your mind need to be quiet and see how things shake out.
I don't want to be an asshole, but if you, as a socialist, ever want a better, different world, you have to kill the part of you that feels this—or, rather, excise the part of you that connects any of those good feelings to country.

One man now has enough wealth to buy every NFL, NHL, and MLS team, to pay for the entire US military budget for 2025, or to buy more than 70 nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. You know what else that same man gets with all of that money? The power to buy our democracy. This is exactly why we need to break the power of money over our elections.

The absolute mountain of money and material to do such a thing is what prevents complete and total domination of even places as small as East Berlin. And why certain ghouls are pushing AI as hard as possible. Even then, total control is wildly inefficient.

yeah we have plenty of drones, we have satellites that can watch them 24/7 with people on 24/7 rotation looking right at the entrances. And eventually they'll have trouble finding people to be willing to go out on a backhoe to dig them out cause it's a death sentence.

I land at every place on the spectrum from: Democracy and capitalism are incompatible Democracy and unfettered capitalism are incompatible Democracy and Citizen's United are incompatible Democracy and dark money are incompatible Deck is absolutely stacked in favor of capital.
More money than the entire American anti-capitalist left and its institutions, top to bottom

This sent me on a real memory journey. I'm sure that the shitty new construction apartment I shared off of Riverside in 2008 has been demolished and replaced with something three times as expensive by now.
Crazy to think that the mortgage on this garbage shack is about the same as the mortgage on my first, real, 1400 square foot house I bought in 2010.

The chorus of 'why does the left always criticize the Democrat and not Trump' have not said a damn word about Trump from the moment Platner arrived to bedevil them. Makes you think!

More and more living with one another seems to be considered a "humiliation ritual" by young people turning their experiences into "common sense". Roommates, jobs, hobbies, searching for love or pleasure in the arms of another, taking the bus, etc are cringe now.

"If you voted for Nancy Pelosi, you didn't have an issue with the administration enriching itself through insider information"
If you’re voting for Graham Platner, you don’t really have an issue with Donald Trump’s moral deficiencies; you have a problem with the fact that he’s not on your side.

Politicians are supposed to be your advocates, not your friends or avatars. I can hate the politician, but love the politics. Do I prefer politicians to be gracious like Mamdani or Talarico? Of course! But the haughty righteousness is too much.
