Great news: The American doctor, Peter Stafford, who contracted Ebola virus in Democratic Republic of Congo and was treated at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin - was discharged from medical care today after testing negative several times. The German hospital shared in a statement.
His wife, also a doctor, and their four kids also released from quarantine. They were exposed but did not get Ebola.
Dr. Stanford shared in a statement:
"I received first-class care, including experimental therapies currently being trialed for this type of virus. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Our thoughts remain with the people in the Congo who do not have access to such care.”

The current Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak is already second biggest Ebola outbreak in recent African history and that the response is struggling to keep up.
Africa CDC says there are now 1077 suspected cases and 246 suspected deaths in the DRC, with around 121 confirmed cases. In Uganda, confirmed cases rose from 7 to 8.

In response to the current outbreak of #Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus in the #DRC, with cases also reported in #Uganda, @WHO convened several of its expert and advisory groups. These groups assessed potential vaccines and therapeutics for both prevention and treatment of Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD).
