hi all. it's time for me to stop using this platform.

hi all! I know that most everyone is not thrilled with what Twitter has become. I've been using Bluesky for the past year and it's proven to be a really solid platform and by far my favorite of the alternatives

massive ballot curing operation in Nevada.
At this point (4:30 EST, 11/06), based just on what I know, my own modeled estimate is that Rosen has 2-in-3 odds of hanging on. For Bob Casey, 1-in-4. Neither race will be called anytime soon. Very fluid. Whether Dems get 48 or 46 Senate seats will change the 2026 picture a lot

it's awful to blame one group of people for an election result. and especially when the map looks like this:

colorado is so amazing, just libbing out in the mountains, completely unconerned with national political shifts

I think the swing state performance showed that Democrats ran an incredibly strong campaign tactically while losing the bigger picture.
Replying to @lxeagle17
Irony is how the swing states shifted much less than the safe states, so technically theyโ€™re still bluer than the electorate at large by swing. This was one of my bull cases for PA. Just didnโ€™t expect nationwide to bolt right that hard.

I hear you and mostly agree. then again, Colorado had a big rightward shift on tax policy which will mean our Democratic majorities will now get to cut services that people need.
Democrats overperformed in Colorado compared to the USA b/c Polis & CO Dems stay ruthlessly on message that the goal is to "save people money" Expanding healthcare, more housing, more transit, better schools, childcare, etc., all packaged as "saving people money" TAKE NOTES

I stand by these statements! unfortunately the two factors I mentioned were outrun by much bigger factors.

I think the biggest differences between 2020 and 2024 for Democrats are: 1. candidate quality - someone people are truly excited about 2. incredible door-to-door canvassing and massive volunteer GOTV operations

the difference between 2024 and 2016 is not that the result is any less horrifying โ€” it's just more believable.

none of these state constitutional protections for abortion will stop a national abortion ban.

agreed but you know that Trump is probably going to win the popular vote, right?

As someone who DOESN'T live in a swing state, I'm gonna say this with my full chest: I'm tired of 7 fucking states deciding the fate of 50 states.

that's just incorrect. Democrats lost 5 points on the popular vote. accounting for that, they actually overperformed in the swing states and GOTV operation
By all accounts, Harris' ground game outclassed Trump's by miles. She had professional staff, while Trump had a haphazard set-up outsourced to Elon Musk and Charlie Kirk. Is it possible that ground games are giant scams?
