Is there any public code extraction research on locked PIC32MX2 devices, or PIC32 in general?

Dear US government, Since you've just blocked Fable and Mythos on critical national security grounds, here are some other tools that pose a similar threat to the American people: - Microsoft Teams - SAP - Salesforce - Jira - Outlook Please do what you must to save America 🇺🇸

28 years ago today, a member of the hacking group r00t and 6 friends from @L0phtHeavyInd told the U.S. Senate they could "shut down the internet in 30 minutes."

Texas Instruments just released the TI 84 Evo graphing calculator with a Python interpreter. The 8-pin W25Q128 chip is easily desoldered and dumped.

Can anyone provide examples (studies, papers, writeups, anything) of LLM bughunting on binary firmware without symbols?? It seems like all of the hype around Mythos, etc. is always targeting user-space application code on gen. purpose OSes...

Who's a historical hacker that most of us think is good but is hated by another country (like Russia/China e.g.) ?

King Charles: I cannot help noticing the readjustments to the East Wing. I'm sorry to say that we British of course made our own small attempt at real estate redevelopment of the White House in 1814.

32 years ago today I registered the @L0phtHeavyInd class C. I got the email from ARIN, sent the class C address to our ISP, then got the first packets routed over our 56K modem to our 486 linux box. When those first packets come through the whole room exploded with chants of, "We on da backbone!" Then came one of the first hacking resources on the web, shell accounts, a bbs, webcams, and lots of shenanigans. You can see an archive of the website here: gbppr.net/l0pht/l0pht.html

This is one of my biggest points when we try to educate defenders @JHUAPL - "the firmware myth" - never write something off as "just firmware" - you need to know what's inside it, do a little RE, figure out what it's doing. Is it bare metal code or a full blown operating system?
Periodic reminder that “Embedded Linux is not firmware”.

No idea what will shake out from this #whcd incident, but when I was in DC for @DistrictCon in Jan. I was struck by the # of armed federal officers, from many diff. agencies just strolling the streets, often solitarily. Like any bad guy could grab a tact. vest and a CBP patch…

Watching @cnn right now is kinda surreal…people scrambling and screaming @shmoocon@wolfblitzer reporting on the phone from #lobbycon

I decapsulated the Tamagotchi Connection V3. The microcontroller is a Sunplus again, specifically an SPLB32. The etching went well, but there's a major issue: the ROM is a whopping 512KB. That's a lot, my previous maximum was 64KB.

Does anyone recognize this Bluetooth Low Energy chip? Probably from the Chinese market, probably very low cost. Certainly with a microcontroller included. Part number was removed from the QFP32 package. There are no part numbers or text on the surface of the die.

Cheeeese Gromit, let's go where there's cheeeese.
To build a sustained human presence on the Moon, we are building @NASAMoonBase, prioritizing surface operations and scalable infrastructure.  - Frequent robotic landings and mobility testing including MoonFall drones  - Starting in 2027 nearly monthly cadence of equipment and rovers with scientific payloads landing on the Moon.  - Investments in power, communications, and surface mobility  - Scalable infrastructure to support long-term human presence The objective is clear: build the foundation for an enduring lunar base and take the next step toward Mars.

Figured @travisgoodspeed and @sirspamsalot would appreciate this one: ctrl panel on our newish fridge was unresponsive - weird lights on the display - inside light wouldn't come on - but seemed to be cooling just fine?? Turns out somebody accidentally put it in Sabbath mode.😆✡️
