We awarded teachers the highest pay rise in 30 years, and we've already met the unions’ request for an additional £2bn in school funding, which will take real terms spending on schools to its highest level in history. Talks with union leaders will continue this week. 2/2

Teaching Unions don’t move to strike often. It’s a last resort, a clear indicator change is needed. Whether you are @NEUnion @NASUWT @NAHTnews, if ballot papers come, consider it and do what you think is right. What you choose is up to you, but at least give it consideration.

Hopefully this will provide the clarity people are looking for on how we got started. More than happy to answer any questions people have about the process. If we can do it, you can too.
I founded @CEITeaching yesterday lunchtime and it now has over 125 members and over 2,000 followers. I want to be totally transparent about how it came about and show that teachers getting involved in education policy is vitally important for a functioning democracy.

This week in school I’ve dealt with: - the death of a parent as a result of living conditions; - sorting food parcels for several families with no food; - organising beds for families; - sorting food for support staff who can’t afford to eat…

Today was a tough one. Little baby girl comes in for “recurrent UTIs”. Parent is frustrated because she’s been to ER multiple times this year when these symptoms started where she’s given antibiotics & sent home. But symptoms always come back - belly pain, pain in urination,…

You literally voted in favour of this happening!
I am appalled by the latest sewage discharges into bathing waters in the local area, and Southern Water must be held to account for this threat to both public health and marine life. (1/2)

This is why SEND needs reform. Parents end up being shocked that an EHCP doesn't entitle their child to do whatever they like with no consequences.

The replies to this are getting worse. Some people (ed academics) really hate teachers blogging...
There was a brief window about ten years ago where, as a classroom teacher, you were only ever a couple of blogs away from having your views on education launched as govt policy. People still disagree about whether this was a good thing.

‘I was excluded a lot in school, it’s disproportionally black students who are doing through this, it’s a bit messed up, it’s rooted in white supremacy, NME centres young ppl and puts them at the centre’ NME member 2
