There is a historical constant: no amount of wealth can liberate a third-rate thinker from intellectual envy or from the deeply degrading sense of scholarly inferiority -- that feeling of impoverished erudition. No amount of wealth.

Time to follow this example
time for the annual reread. to be studied, not read. with more life experience, you learn things missed entirely on previous reads. this only happens with the best of Timeless books. make a podcast series again on Incerto plus Poor Charlie's Almanack? 200 hrs of "work" :)👨🏻‍🍳

As with fat tails Llms are frequency machines that fail to extrapolate outside the sample set. What they know is the VISIBLE. Almost as bad as economists, almost worse than psychologists.
Most experiments fail, and negative results rarely get published. This means LLMs are unaware of the outcomes of most experiments.

For Aristotle, the banausos is not just physically deformed by his profession, but politically and ethically stunted: specialization makes him less a complete man than a TOOL of his occupation. Politics, book VII: "And any occupation, art, or science, which makes the body or soul or mind of the freeman less fit for the practice or exercise of virtue, is vulgar; wherefore we call those arts vulgar which tend to DEFORM the body, and likewise all paid employments, for they absorb and degrade the mind."

By favoring his country of birth, a politician with dual citizenship may harm not only his host country but also other countries whose interests are subordinated to those of his own nation of origin.
I am a dual citizen and I agree with this.

162 Shape Hybrid Matrix. A grid displaying hybrid shapes formed by combining poi spinning patterns. Rows are labeled with base shapes (blue) and columns with corresponding base shapes (red). Each filled cell shows the resulting hybrid. The top bar indicates timing ratios (1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 2:3, 1:2:4, 1:3:5). The upper-right diagram denotes 3rd Order Flowers in anti-antispin configuration. This shows all possible hybrid poi shapes created by combining different base shapes between your two hands across various timing ratios.

One's attitude towards reading should be to treat it as a sacred experience: making the environment aesthetic, without hurry, beautiful bookmarks, etc.

Hold specialists accountable by not allowing them to move forward without defining their terms. Too many experts are not held accountable to what they purport to know, because onlookers don't want to look dumb for asking. You'd be surprised just how often the expert fails to define the words they use.
