What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
We came across this poem by William Henry Davies while working on Temporals and felt that it fit so well with one of the goals we were trying to achieve with the work.
We are constantly online in our space on all the different apps and having discussions all the time about art, artists, this movement and the future but spending little time with the art itself beyond the week of minting or the posting of theses or narratives.
I have been guilty of this myself, constantly thinking about the future without stopping to appreciate what I have in this moment. Temporals transform over a period of 512 days and once transformed collectors cannot go back to the previous image. We want viewers to appreciate the present, current moments in their lives, and these pieces before they pass and are gone forever.
Take a moment to stand and stare today 🤍
