We've been multitasking House and Senate hearings as we approach Thursday's deadline. We just jumped into the hearing of SB 1677 in the Senate, a bill which could put 2SLGBTQ youth into foster and adoptive homes that would subject them to so-called conversion therapy.

Nex Benedict should still be alive. Nex deserved not only a safe and nurturing environment to learn, but an environment that actively disrupted anti-2STGNC rhetoric and worked to ensure that vulnerable students were safe. Read more, here: freedomoklahoma.org/news/nex…

Just left an event honoring a Black sorority and spoke of the need to unite against the rising tide of white supremacy, only to be confronted by Nazis marching through downtown Nashville.
This is exactly what my Republican colleagues hate speech is fostering and inviting.

this is bringing up a lot for me today. in high school, I ran through the hall screaming for help as a peer beat a boy in my grade to a bloody pulp for thinking he was gay. that boy came very close to dying the way Nex did. cold blood, in their SCHOOL, murdered for hate.

his family came to my house that night because my mom was on the school board. his dad brought photos of his child’s face bloodied and brutalized.

A child has now died.
Nex Benedict (they/them) was a nonbinary child. They were beaten, viciously in a high school bathroom of Owasso High School. They died the next day in the hospital.

I need folks to rally around trans folks having access to accurate documents. This bill is bad, in a way that disrupts the ability of trans folks born in OK, regardless of where they live now, from having accurate, consistent documents that reflect their identity.

We're in House General Government where today's agenda includes a bill by the Committee Chair, HB 3219, which would ban anyone born in Oklahoma from accessing gender marker corrections on their birth certificate.

isn’t it so wonderful to have had all those people telling us the bond vote was the only way to build a new jail because the ARPA money would be used with it (even tho the feds said you can’t build new jails with it) and now we probably won’t even get that ARPA money? wow.
