I need you to keep in mind that ANY bill that bans access to best practice medical care for trans people is unspeakably cruel. EVERY proposal is unconscionable. The arbitrary ages chosen to limit care to especially vulnerable young trans people don't make any bill less cruel.

1/ When his 7-year-old daughter ran to report a flooded bathroom, Mitch Meredith assumed a burst pipe, maybe a backed-up toilet. Then he saw the foul-smelling black fluid covering the floor… 🧵

Gobsmacking statistic in this story: “While city pools and splash pads consume almost 2 million gallons of water over the course of a summer, a single Exxon plastics plant consumes 13 million gallons per day.”
NEW: Absent a biblical rainfall event this summer, Corpus Christi will be the first American city in modern history to run out of water. 💦 Schools & hospitals hope to drill wells. Lawns are dry. How will petrochemical plants handle it? We don’t know. kut.org/energy-environment/2…

The dirty little secret about these broad, sweeping claims by police of "law enforcement exemptions" from #Oklahoma's public records laws is that there's actually nothing in the law that prohibits them releasing most records. They just don't want to, and feel they don't have to.
You'd have to live under a rock to have never heard a publicly released 911 call... yet @tulsapolice claims all 911 calls in Oklahoma are protected under Title 51. I just got a 911 call from the DA's office last year.

Round 2 of being threatened to be removed if I wouldn't stand while also being told I must sit in the back closet to one of the sergeants. What a joy to spend my days in the people's house.
In fun new things at the Capitol, today Sargeants at Arms in the House told me I must stand during the invocation and pledge or I would be removed.

Posts like this are a painful but useful case study in what we disability scholars call “carceral sanism” which is a kind of maximalist fusion of “mental health stigma” with punitive social logics. It frames visible crisis as a breach of public order, not evidence of abandonment

The fact that the most rabid fascists are totally willing to tout body cameras on DHS officers as a reform should, at the very least, make you very skeptical of body cameras. They're not some progressive reform. They're used for surveillance, copaganda, & increasing budgets.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says that every DHS officer deployed to Minneapolis will be issued a body-worn camera. apnews.com/article/immigrati…

OEM is asking residents and business owners who have been affected by the winter storm to report online at damage.ok.gov. Reporting helps emergency managers better understand the impacts to Oklahoma communities and can help connect residents to state or local resources.

A significant winter storm is still on track for our area this weekend. There will be periods when there isn't much precipitation - much of the day today and tomorrow afternoon. Heavier snow/sleet/freezing rain is expected later tonight and again tomorrow night.

Have I packed for my flight tomorrow? No. Have I started the closet overhaul I have avoided for several years and created giant messes across multiple living spaces? Yes, yes I have.
