Historically, Gomoa emerged as an important political and economic power within the Fante Confederacy. The state developed into a network of prosperous farming, fishing, and trading communities that connected the interior regions.

STATE #5: NKUSUKUM STATE
The Nkusukum trace their ancestry to the ancient Bono Kingdom. According to oral tradition, they migrated southward around 1229 AD following a succession dispute after the death of the Fante King of Bono Kunkumfi Ameyaw.
