A final thought on the 251st birthday of the U.S. Army.
Your ancestors fought entropy so you could be here reading this. That is the story of every American alive today.
Some crossed oceans, survived wars, built homes, endured hardship, and carried burdens nobody remembers. Generation after generation fought the darkness long enough to hand a future to people they would never meet.
You are the result.
The Army has always understood this better than most institutions.
A young Soldier standing watch tonight is connected to men who stood watch before him in Normandy, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and places now forgotten by history. Different uniforms and weapons. The same burden.
That connection is the soul of the Army.
The modern world struggles with this because it wants everything reduced to systems, processes, metrics, and charts. It can explain how an institution functions. It cannot explain why people sacrifice for it.
The soul of the Army lives in that answer.
And any nation foolish enough to lose it will eventually discover that process can manage an organization, but only spirit can sustain one.
251 years, one Army.
Happy birthday
