Delivering Very Brief Advice (Ask, Advise, Act) is an evidence-based, #NICE-recommended responsibility for all healthcare professionals. Every smoker should be identified, advised on quitting, and offered support or referral to stop-smoking services. #SmokefreeNHS

The tax gap (total tax avoided and evaded) for the UK in 2023-20224 was Β£46,800,000,000. It's not teachers or nurses avoiding tax. It's not people on PIP. It's not asylum seekers. It's the rich. It's the billionaires. Its Nigel Farage. It's the Tories.

I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday. As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.

Coverage in The Times here: 'Almost one million smokers are too ill to work' thetimes.com/article/579ddc1…
Our new paper in @LancetRH_Europe documents stark inequalities in health-related economic inactivity by smoking status. As of 2025, one in nine working-age adults in England who smoked were not in work due to long-term illness or disability. This association is embedded in broader patterns of structural inequality that shape both health behaviours and labour market outcomes. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

We could have safe and legal routes" "This is a manufactured crisis by the Conservative government and now the Labour government" "So many black and Asian communities in this country are terrified because the whole frame of the migration crisis is a racist fascist frame" "There is a sense the country is broken. And they're right" "But the answer is not to blame migrants or asylum seekers" "The answer is to point at the private jets, teh private yachts, and to the multi millionaires and billionaires, and to say, we will fund our public services, we will build council houses, we will invest in our NHS" Simple, succinct πŸ‘
