π Honored to receive the Ralph Kupka Penning 2024 from @KenBiSbureau for our 22-year study on offspring of parents with bipolar disorder!
Big thanks to our team (@HillegersManon & @esthermesman) and the brave participants who made this possible. π
Hereβs what we found π
π¨ New paper alert! π¨
My first first-author paper on functional outcomes in offspring of parents with bipolar disorder (BD) has been published in Journal of Affective Disorders. Here is what we found!
We concluded that functional outcomes should be prioritized as research topics in high-risk studies. The potential associations between familial risk status, offspring psychopathology, and age may inform prevention strategies.
Thanks to my co-authors Caroline Vandeleur, Martin Preisig (both from Switzerland ποΈ), Sabrina Gunput, @HillegersManon and @esthermesman (her first last-author paper!). This project took over three years, and I am very glad it is out now. π₯³

When you finally gain momentum with a paper and youβre like: yes, I can definitely submit 7 extra first-author papers by the end of this year. πͺπ»πͺπ»πͺπ»
I might have gotten a rejection for an university teaching job today (π), but I also received the news that my first first author paper finally got accepted! π So extremely happy and stay tuned for details on the paper!
Can we change this system so that I don't have to spend time adjusting the period at the end of every sentence before submitting my manuscript to a new journal after a rejection? Thank you. #academicpublishing
Working with a longitudinal cohort is always fun: data files with a creation date from before Y2K. I was literally learning to read when these data files were created. π€―
