Welcomed today’s statement on maternity services—and pleased my campaigning was recognised. But do we really need another review? Warm words aren’t enough. Women in Wigtownshire are still travelling unacceptable distances—unsafe, inequitable and unjust. We’ve had a clear, independent review before. It was ignored. Families are paying the price. Will this be action—or another talking shop? We need restored local services, midwife-led births in Stranraer, better access, and real choice. I’ll keep holding Govt & the Health Board to account. A former SNP chief executive admitted embezzling more than £400,000, yet John Swinney’s party voted against a parliamentary inquiry into how it happened, how it went undetected for so long and who knew what. The criminal case is over. The accountability questions remain. The public are not fools. They can see exactly what is happening when politicians vote against transparency and refuse to answer straightforward questions.

The SNP (backed by the Greens) have opposed an inquiry into the Murrell-Sturgeon scandal. This matters because the conviction of Peter Murrell is not simply a criminal case, nor is it merely an SNP problem. It is the most serious political scandal of the devolution era. That is why there must be a parliamentary inquiry. The public is entitled to ask questions: How did this happen? How did it continue so long? Why was it not detected? What safeguards were missing? What lessons must now be learned?
