Did anyone else read dictionaries and encyclopedias for fun as a kid or am I just weird?

Don't follow soccer at all, but watch the big tourneys. Won't be fully invested until the playdowns, but Canada getting a draw was cool, and Scotland winning was great, but 1-0 vs. Haiti was not impressive. Finns, sadly--can only sauna, drink and play hockey--not represented!🀣

Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney continued his efforts to pivot away from the U.S. and align with Europe, meeting with the leader of Ireland on Saturday ahead of the upcoming G7 summit and saying middle-power countries shouldn't compete for favor with America. to.pbs.org/4fE1LR0

Respect. I lost acquaintances in Afghanistan and some really close friends in other "incidents." It's nothing to do with me, but there are genuine heroes out there that deserve respect. And I am, in fact, fighting back tears as I type this.

Self medicating a migraine with booze is both fun, and functional. I probably should've been a physician--pretty sure I would have been awesome. "Drink a quart of gin and call me in the morning."

Witnessed the most superb press preview at The Wallace Collection in London today. Winston Churchill the Painter. An unprecedented biography through 50 of his best canvases, accompanied by an outstanding guidebook. Highly recommended. Opens 23 May.

🀣 A lot can change in 118 years...
Jupiter now has as many as 115 recognized moons. This may or may not be important, but we feel that it is the duty of this department to give it all the publicity possible.

Good morning from Mimico by the Lake. Happy Victoria Day to all my Canadian friends

Why am I not having my morning coffee with ducks? Seems like it would make dealing with human beings for the rest of the day far more palatable

πŸ›©οΈπŸŒ· Great museum...haven't been since Feb 2020 (I remember because its how I caught COVID πŸ€’ --came through Union Station @ rush hour on my return trip) Great displays, and air-worthy WWII planes like the Lancaster, amongst others.
Our tulips are blooming beautifully after being planted by students from Waterdown District High School last fall. This year’s orange and red flowers celebrate the enduring friendship between Canada and the Netherlands.

It's a long season, and we'll see what happens, but the Jays being 10.5 games out of first and below .500 at about the 1/4 season mark seems less than ideal. Last years run to the series was probably a typical Toronto sports anomaly. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ #bluejays #MLB
