Jeez, they're lucky they got the the @FIFAWorldCup balls through immigration, given their origin story.

Also happening on SBS in Australia, I hear, which is very sad. Let's hope this doesn't become the norm. World Cups used to be so much more thrilling. I just can't get going for this one at all 😔
Perhaps the only stain on Thursday’s curtain-raiser were FIFA’s newly-mandated “hydration breaks.” When FIFA announced the change, it said the breaks were for “player welfare,” but many fans saw through the spin and assumed the breaks would be used by broadcasters to show commercials. On Thursday, Fox, which holds the English-language U.S. broadcast rights, confirmed those fears. It not only cut away to advertisements; during the second half of Mexico-South Africa, its commercials ran long and caused viewers to miss several seconds of action after play resumed. The blunder sparked an uproar among longtime fans. Read @HenryBushnell’s full 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 for free ⤵️ 🔗 bit.ly/4vI53Y7

I wonder why @TRobinsonNewEra wasn't calling for people to take to the streets of Scotland when Scottish postman Ewan Methwen ACTUALLY beheaded his girlfriend Phoenix Spencer-Horn two years ago 🤔 share.google/t4La74l42hLoEUs…

Crime is now being viewed through an entirely racialised lens – but only when the perpetrators aren't white. When Chas Corrigan stabbed a Saudi student to death, or Paul Doyle mowed down Liverpool fans, white people didn't have to fear being a target of collective retaliation.

If the US is good at anything, it's uniting the world against it. Omar Artan receiving a hero's welcome back in Somalia.

"Just chill, relax." That's his response? Seriously? This man is killing football, and needs to be removed from his post. Gianni Infantino is an utter embarrassment to the world game.

In 1966, the UK government considered denying visas for North Korea to attend the @FIFAWorldCup, but @FIFAcom said it would relocate the tournament if it did so. Sixty years later, @FIFAcom is led by a sycophant that has zero courage to warn the USA with similar consequences.

I hope to read many more stories about empty stadiums in the US for @FIFAWorldCup games. Boycotting is a strong tactic. Referees should be threatening it, too, after the Omar Artan debacle. But solidarity in professional football appears to have been erased.
Fifa’s resale portal currently lists 176,000 tickets for the opening 'group' phase of the competition, when each team plays three others. ft.trib.al/WEPRp4d

Having seen a bit of Lens last season, I'm pretty happy with this appointment. Let's hope the board gives him what he needs to keep our momentum going 🙏❤️💙 #CPFC
🚨 Crystal Palace agree deal in principle to appoint Pierre Sage as new head coach, here we go! 🔴🔵🦅 Deal valid until June 2029 plus extra season as option. After excellent work at RC Lens, Sage arrives in Premier League and ready for new chapter at #CPFC.

Just another disgusting act from the @FIFAWorldCup co-host.
Iran's football federation says its ticket allocation for the FIFA World Cup has been withdrawn just days before football's global showpiece begins, leaving fans unable to attend their team's matches. 🔴 More on Aljazeera.com

"America will welcome the world," Gianni Infantino confidently professed in late 2025 while sucking up to Trump. How wrong he was. Even a referee HE PICKED can't get in, because of racist immigration policy, and he just washed his hands of it. This @FIFAWorldCup is a farce.

Seriously, at this point the USA, as a @FIFAWorldCup host, is an absolute racist disgrace. I hope the IOC is watching as we'll have this all over again in a couple of years. Never again should the USA be allowed to host major sporting events.
Somali referee Omar Artan, who was set to be the first from his country to officiate at the World Cup finals, has been denied entry to the United States.

The @FIFAWorldCup hasn't even started yet but co-host United States has already disgraced the tournament with its political games and blatant racism towards participants from the Middle East, but is anyone surprised?
Bravo, Monsieur Infantino.

Let's be honest, @vinijr would have been shot and killed in the US if he treated security like that in real life.

Back with a BANG!! 💥

I still think this would be a better way to conduct penalty shootouts. Not sure why there is so much opposition to it. Tests key skills of the sport, rather than the straight-up lottery we currently have.

Looks like it's going to be a seven-goal thriller, then 🤞

Jannik Sinner is a great tennis player, but it seems the restructuring of his physical and medical team since his ban has not gone well. What next? One thing that always seems to beat him is the heat.
