Why do people still use resale sites, it's the whole reason ticketing for every popular event is fucked

Don't like the fees you're seeing on Stubhub? Switch to your laptop instead of phone. Or vice versa. But it's likely going to be cheaper on one than the other, @EmilyStewartM discovered. Or, try asking a friend to buy. These were the fees for the exact same tickets:

I tried to see whether it was true that your Chase card leads to higher StubHub prices .. and it's not. BUT, it led to another discovery: People are being charged wildly different prices for the same tickets at the same time because platforms are tacking on wildly different fees.

Last week, an arbitrator blew up StubHub's convoluted arbitration agreement. STUB has failed to pay required AAA fees in four of my clients' cases; it has moved it address for Notices of Dispute six times in one year; its addresses have oftentimes been vacant or undeliverable; it claims its liability in most cases is limited to $200 in damages (even if they failed to refund a consumer $8,000 for scam tickets); STUB requires consumers to contact them by certified mail at shifting, bogus addresses while STUB can email the consumer if it so chooses; and the list goes on and on. They wanted to hide all of this in arbitration, but that's not working out so well for them.

As the scalpers say, you must be a communist and not support free markets! We need to change the laws to make this behavior illegal

They all refuse to answer this question and if they do it’s something like, you’re a communist, M’erica, open market…..they refuse to admit they manipulate the market

You seem knowledgeable about the ticketing industry in most posts, but this one kinda negates that. What u think would happen if these were listed for a lot less? Actual fans could buy them? Unlikely. Scalpers would grab & sell 4 bigger profit. Blame is correctly on resellers!!

In what world does the scalper / broker deserve more than the band, the crew, the mgmt, the bus driver, the local crew, etc? Scalpers deserve nothing. The fact that you think you deserve a dime profiting off the hard work of those involved is the core issue.

The bands you promote would profit more is a hilarious argument. “The guys putting in the actual work would make more” ugh yeah. That’s life. They deserve more than the scalper who does… well…. NOTHING.

How many more blue dot fever articles will I see before someone uses actual statistical data to document this “market downturn”. We always have slow tours and cancellations, can someone quantify if there is a problem and if so what percentage the market is down?
