So many families struggling with the stress and heartache choosing between the human right to life or education. @GavinWilliamson please sort this.

Today many CV/CEV families will be forced to return to unsafe schools,
where close contacts in Positive households can sit next to our children
who didn't party at Boardmasters,
they didn't even go to sleepovers
but missed out on their gymnastics
all last year.
For what?

I still can’t get my head around the fact that a child, from a household where someone is positive *can still attend school*! On what scientific basis did the Education Sec make this decision? This is not only reckless, when cases are high & children are unvaxxed,, it’s unethical

1 in 200 kids w/ covid hospitalised compares to 1 in 25,000 for vax.
You'd expect 160 hospitalisations from 32,000 cases in kids.
If we vaxxed our 4m 12-17 yr olds you'd expect 160 (mild) hospitalisations from vax.
Since 19 April, there have been 326,000 cases in 10-19 yr olds.

11/ In conclusion, the Delta variant is more transmissible than other variants & cases have ⬆️ rapidly, even in kids. Around 1 in 200 kids exposed to #SARSCoV2 will be hospitalised but, if anything, it looks like delta variant might have lower hospitalization rates in kids

9 wks post-op and I’ve made it upstairs and slept in my own bed, and had a shower (wasn’t easy at all). We have a dining room again! Took a long time getting here and still a long way to go. Still waiting for physio. Very swollen ankle.

Come on UK gov. Our kids won't be vaccinated when they start school. They at least deserve some effort to provide them with air that is safe to breathe. You've removed all other mitigations @GavinWilliamson

Couldn't agree more. Schools could be so much safer this September than last:
If we had vaccinated the kids.
If we had kept (and upgraded) masks.
If we had reduced class sizes.
If we had invested in clean air.

Measles is a horrid, airborne virus, but much less horrid than COVID. When there is a measles outbreak, the world goes into meltdown until it is eliminated again. Now, everyone is eager to "live with COVID". If someone could explain this paradox to me, it would help me greatly.

I’d love to know if the dept for education is spending the summer meeting with unions and heads and working out how to reduce the risk of covid in schools. Or are they just going to put out another multi-million £ campaign to push the lie, “schools are safe”, like last year?
