Between 2002–2017, Birzeit University faced repeated Israeli military raids, including live fire at students, abductions by undercover units, assaults on campus guards, and raids during exams. Documented raids occurred in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2017.

The letter condemns Israeli military attacks on Palestinian education, including a raid on Birzeit University, calls these actions “scholasticide,” and urges the UK government to hold Israel to account through diplomatic, military and economic sanctions.
