I don't know who needs to hear this, but a "mild covid infection" that results in chronic, lifelong disability is not—and will never be—a mild covid infection.

This is brutal. Hallway medicine has become such a fixture in BC, one hospital is now experimenting with providing ear plugs and eye masks to help patients sleep. Not surprisingly, it is helping patients stuck in hallways get about 50% more sleep. #BCHealthCrisis #bcpoli

1. Remember that any attempt to paint Long Covid as psychogenic in nature deliberately and completely incorrectly biologically decouples SARS-CoV-2 infection from Long Covid. In essence, this rhetoric shifts the causative factor for LC from the virus to the patient's mind.

Dear @jbtwickens @Dave_Eby @bcndp: The Disability Supplement cannot be both: -a replacement for lost stable funding AND ALSO -a cost-of-living bump for the kids arbitrarily considered by your gov’t to no longer be disabled enough. Those are diametrically opposed. #BCPoli

I find it a bit jarring that none of the media reports mentioned the fact that BC's health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, is a founding owner of a BC winery and has a lifelong passion for wine. Henry directly profits from sale of what she calls "a leading cause of preventable death."

Slight update: This piece raises Henry's conflict of interest issue at the very end. But this just raises more questions. For example, why was Henry allowed to make pandemic policy re: wineries and places that serve wine contrary to her 2018 disclosure? x.com/ChristineGuent8/status…

Well, there’s this tiny little bit at the end of the article but all this does is make Henry look like she’s being transparent. In actuality, all she’s done is look after her own interests. Remember when wine tasting rooms were allowed to open in 2020 ahead of other businesses?

This CTV headline from Dr. Bonnie Henry's presser reveals a serious COI. She is part owner of Clos Du Soleil winery, benefiting financially from its success. As PHO, she called for the @bcndp to make spirits more expensive, thus pushing people to buy wine, with its lower proof.

Heads need to roll from this @bcndp government scandal. Education Minister Lisa Beare tried to reframe this as an "inadvertent error". It was not. The Justice on the case was clear it was intentional. Beare should lose her ministry. The Deputy Police Chief should be removed too.

I try to stay as professional as possible on here, but the recent spate of tweets I've seen bemoaning that 'things just haven't been the same since 2020' or similar and then utterly ignoring the ongoing impact of SARS-CoV-2 infuriates me. Denial and ignorance in equal measure.

Excellent thread on the importance of airborne precautions and the ineffectiveness of contact and droplet precautions. Even if you're concerned about PPE costs, taking all the money wasted on gowns, gloves and blue floppies and pouring it into just N95s would save so many lives.
The whole IPAC PRECAUTIONS paradigm used in healthcare is fundamentally wrong It's been wrong for decades So long in fact that it's become enshrined in stone Fossilized Immutable Regarded as a Universal Truth In reality it's a Fundamental Lie

terrible. 20 yrs ago, the internet was full of hobbyist blogs and forums. over time, these have been replaced by paywalled substacks and private discord channels, each a walled garden. google's decision to prioritize AI just makes it less likely ppl will create free, public info

"Despite considerably more knowledge, tools and resources, the trajectory of pandemic risk is moving in the wrong direction". As I have often said, the politicisation of Covid-19 - both the disease and the response - has made the world less prepared for the next pandemic.

Two days ago, Dr. Bonnie Henry claimed that proper precautions were followed, and that the air crew who transported the infected hantavirus person or persons was at no risk. We now know that Henry's reassurances were false.
This is concerning Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) flew 4 Canadians home from the MV Hondius on May 10th According to this article, airline crew were given only surgical masks & gloves to protect themselves

Andes hantavirus may not become a full blown pandemic, but the officials in charge seem to be doing their damnedest (through their professional incompetence) to allow it to become one.

Early in the pandemic, I tried to convince people that a key public health official, Dr. Bonnie Henry, bizarrely but truly despises masks as a tool to prevent the spread of disease. But over the weekend she let her guard down and said the quiet part out loud. h/t @InspiredAquaCA
