Day of the African Child 2026
As we commemorate the Day of the African Child, we are reminded that every child deserves a safe, healthy, and dignified environment to grow and thrive.
This year's theme, "Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa," is more than a call for better infrastructure, it is a call for equity, health, and opportunity.
Without clean water, safe sanitation facilities, and proper hygiene services, children face challenges that affect their education, health, and future. For many girls, inadequate WASH facilities make menstrual hygiene management difficult, leading to missed school days, discomfort, and stigma.
Investing in water, sanitation, and hygiene means investing in healthier children, empowered girls, and stronger communities.
Every child deserves dignity. Every child deserves opportunity. Every child deserves access.
