Just a quick reminder to those doing collection development: order all the Eisner nominees, not just the winners. Anyone can vote for a winner, but the Eisner judges are guaranteed to have actually read all the books.

If you're a comics person using the phrase "the big two" and you're not referring to Viz and Scholastic, you're doing it wrong.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: a small group of parents should not dictate what books other people's children are allowed to read. #UniteAgainstBookBans

ALT Clueless Picky GIF

Please notice that a majority of banned books are written by women & POC sharing their experiences of being women and/or POC. Then notice the remainder are books that question & critique authoritarian regimes, encourage independent thought, or otherwise make white men “look bad.”

know this is rhetorical but it begs to be said out loud: we need to rebrand “pro life” to “pro misogyny” because they straight up hate babies and love controlling women’s bodies. periodt.
Why did 192 Republicans vote against a $28 million emergency fund to address the baby formula shortage?

Two very talented creators (@goraina and @RunBarbara) have been nominated for an Eisner, but their letterer (@RyeHickman ) isn’t included. I think we can all agree that’s nuts. As Casey said, the letterer is a big part of what makes a comic work. …

… If the concern is that adding an entire creative team makes the entry too long, don’t worry. We’re readers. We can handle lots of words. If the concern is that it’s too much data entry, well, stop. That’s just lazy. Come on, Eisners. Do better.
