Horrific footage of a barbaric, evil and horrifying stabbing attack and what appears to be attempted beheading yesterday in North Belfast.
Everyone I know in Northern Ireland are not only horrified but also deeply shocked & fearful.
I'm also deeply concerned about the backlash. An evil man stabbed and attempted a person multiple times, gouged their eye, and attempted to behead them. We are left asking how this happened and what state our broken system is in, with multiple failings on the part of various agencies, for something this horrific to happen.
At the same time, I see that far-right figures are all over this horrific attack. They're sharing images and footage without any consideration for the victims family or the local community. They are whipping up fear, tensions and pure racist hatred against the many vulnerable families, and particularly individual men, who have rightfully & lawfully claimed asylum here in the UK and in Ireland.
Northern Ireland has historically been a place where minorities have faced their share of oppression & racism, but also a significant amount of solidarity.
But I am extremely concerned, especially given the presence of active paramilitary and vigilante gangs, that those who live in north Belfast will now face the consequences of an evil barbaric man, his horrific actions, and the subsequent far-right reactions.
It's also qwhite interesting that a stabbing, a brutal one at that, only catches the attention of figures like Nigel Farage & Tommy Robinson when the perpetrator is a person of colour and allegedly an immigrant/asylum seeker. Nobody ever gives a damn when the perpetrator is a white gang member or a white drug lord.

What your post completely ignores is that these policies were never created around your personal preferences. They were created because women and girls have legitimate interests in privacy, dignity, safeguarding, and single sex spaces.
You say “I decide which door I walk through.” But that is precisely the issue. The moment access is determined solely by individual self declaration, the rights and boundaries of everyone else disappear from the equation.
Women and girls are not background characters in your story. Their comfort, privacy, and expectations in intimate spaces matter too.
The purpose of sex based spaces is not to punish anyone or ruin anyone’s life. It is to balance competing rights in a way that recognizes biological reality and protects vulnerable groups.
You are arguing for your autonomy. Women are arguing for theirs. The fact that you do not like the outcome does not mean their rights cease to exist.

The PM is *often* told by officials details from vetting, leak inquiries, investigations by intel agencies etc.
This is because the PM in our constitution is often the only constitutional authority deemed able to make a political judgement about things including risk assessments of appointments.
Martin's bullshit that details are never shared is factually untrue.
Often officials run through a list - sorry PM, sex pest. Sorry, being investigated by NCA for fraud but we shd keep this quiet as he isn't charged yet. Sorry, he was asked about leaking X and he lied to the investigators, a breach of the ministerial code...
I've watched discussions about each of these things with the PM and officials.
Martin is asking you to believe that officials can just say 'sorry PM you can't appoint X he's failed vetting' and *the PM* isn't allowed to know any details. Absurd for many reasons.
I know I say ministers have become NPCs but it isn't quite that bad yet - though the likes of Martin would *like* officials to control absolutely everything.
When the penetration of Whitehall by PRC intel became a huge story, Martin spread disinfo to hacks trying to make the disaster look less disastrous.
He is a Remainiac Heywood stooge who pipes up for elements of Whitehall & shd not be treated as any sort of 'impartial official'.
Mandelson was a political appointment. All sides agree that the PM made this appointment and made clear he was pushing it through before various checks were done and regardless of various checks already done.
If the vetting people came back with concerns, *the proper action was UNQUESTIONABLY for officials to take this to the PM* for him to make a judgement about the pros/cons and risks of his own political appointment, including the 'details' which Martin is pretending junior vetting officials are allowed to know but not *the PM*. This is the only proper way for such a problem to be resolved.
