.338 Tungsten AP can out-penetrate .50 BMG steel core API, as seen in this slide. Unclear though if .338 can match .50s concrete and wood penetration against barriers and cover, which will be the biggest issue for .338 MMG supplanting the M2.

Federal 5.56 PEAK High Pressure 5.56 = 313fps over brass case. Shown is a 64gr from a 14.5". Future velocities may be even higher.

5.56 PEAK testing video here. Note that the rifle is shooting brass and PEAK in alternating shots without any change to the gas system. Its possible Federal has tailored the powder to mimic the port pressure of regular ammo by using a faster powder? youtube.com/shorts/eCCC9GV9U…

Yep , 970 m/s for 5.56 mm MAX out of an 11 inch barrel. Caveat: the weapon needs a specific barrel and BCG to reliably function with MAX. But it means that certain current SIG Sauer weapons can be converted to operate on the new Hybrid ammo. A Greyburn selling point perhaps...
Interesting stat on a recent 5.56mm MAX demonstration in Europe. 5.56mm MAX hybrid cartridge cased rounds had a 28% higher velocity from an 11.5” barrel than conventional (legacy) counterparts. That is to say, the muzzle velocity from the 11.5” hybrid exceeded the MV of a 20”.

ARKA is ~8lbs; doesn't seem like that weight is hiding in the barrel.

The 0-90-180 degree selector on the AR is trash for actually engaging FA, as many are now discovering with 3 position FRT's.
What classic, historically revered military firearm actually has the most garbage safety selector design in existence?

In Seekins video on their new High Pressure barrel tech, we get a sneak PEAK of .338 Norma using Federal PEAK alloy cases. 300gr @ 2950fps, about 250fps over brass. This will likely add 100-200yd of AP range.

The other huge advantage is how much shorter the MFMD is then a normal suppressor ~1" longer then a rifle with just a surefire flash hider. This allows for longer rifle barrels while keeping the rifles overall length compact. (sad bullpup noises)
The Multi-Function Muzzle Device (MFMD) program began in 2022 after special operations users identified a long-standing problem: operators had to choose between sound suppression, flash suppression, or recoil reduction. The goal was to combine all three into a single scalable -

Perhaps inspiration for SIG's 97gr Tandem Tungsten 5.56?
Replying to @autisticarab
There's probably much better examples but I can't help being reminded of 12.7x55 STs-130 VPS's dual tungsten core AP round, where it has an additional sliding/backing core to push the front during penetration

I suspect the future is AI drones designed to simply fly down the railroad tracks at 5' high until they strike something or run out of battery. Would be fairly simple level of autonomy, and immune to jamming.
People often ask why trains aren't being targeted. Here's one example: a drone takes out a locomotive in the Bryansk region.

I wonder if a better option would be an underbarrel single shot 12g. Although I love the Metro/Sten/Liberator vibes of this thing.
Also included in the release was the ToobTM for The Raped TsNIITochMash's single-shot 12-gauge, which weighs just under 1.8kg. It's meant as a last resort option against drones

SIG's 5.56 HYP 97gr Tungsten AP projectile shows a novel 'tandem warhead' design, where a front tungsten cylinder is designed to shatter the ceramic, while a follow on pointed penetrator is designed to then punch through this weakened area. May be the key to defeating Level IV.
