Correct.
Former deputy PM John Manley: We used to always refer to the president of the United States as the leader of the free world. Donald Trump is not the leader of anything other than about the 37% of Americans that still support him. If anything, intellectually at least, Mark Carney has become the leader of the free world, the countries that believe in democracy and the rule of law.

After reading the details released on the deal with Iran, let's get give them a battleship so we can sign our unconditional surrender. What a colossal foreign policy disaster.

Yeah no. You’re completely misreading and missing the big picture. And misinforming. The US is a rogue state. Overtly threatening our sovereignty, security and economy. We are therefore post haste addressing our military, economic and security situation. Carney’s job is to diversify our trade, build our international relationships, and thereby our security, economy and efficiency. We are also moving domestically to build our economy, military and productivity. Through innovation. And top talent attraction. We win this economic and sovereignty war by deepening ties to Europe plus UK, Australia and New Zealand as well as major other economies like Mexico, Latin America (Mercosur), and parts of Asia including Indonesia and China. This insulates us from the vagaries of a rogue state run by an authoritarian leader. Who is seeking tribute from Canada and the rest of the world through unilateral tariffs. Like a Shogun to the world. You should be thanking your Prime Minister for his and Team Canada’s outstanding vision, their people’s mandate and agenda, and their efforts and good results. Serious times demand serious journalism. That’s not possible for @brianlilley who’s the asset of an American operation. What’s your excuse?
Give this a listen. "Realpolitik" is not speaking out of both sides of your mouth, depending on which country you're in. It's doing hard things even when unpopular. Our country needs consistent, active leadership that advances Canada's interests, not European cosplay. #cdnpoli

The US has consistently defeated itself in negotiations with Iran. Confused strategy, unrealistic objectives, dismissal of expert advice, failure to match means & outcomes, inability to convert tactical military success into strategic wins. A masterclass in lousy statecraft.
As I’ve long argued, the one place the regime in Iran consistently defeats the United States is at the negotiating table. They’ve outmaneuvered every American president for nearly half a century. Will President Trump be different?

Yeahz we're fine with that in Canada, thanks. I'd have done the same thing if my girlfriend was performing at the open ceremony. What kind of man wouldn't? He's retired. Leave him alone. Nobody gives a fuck. You do this for clicks.
Justin Trudeau chose to attend the US World Cup opening ceremony alongside his girlfriend Katy Perry rather than watching Canada’s first match on Friday night. 🖇️ telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2…

Nah. It's a mess made by the Maroun family who are lobbying the Trump administration because they own the other bridge and don't want to lose money.
Gordie Howe bridge debacle is a mess of Carney's own making trib.al/pTKYZ70

The U.S. - Iran deal looks good: The Trump administration has agreed to the deal it wants, and Iran has agreed to deal it wants. They’re not the same deal…but, hey, c’mon, details…

Hard to believe that an intelligent, articulate and popular mayor is unable to get along with an uneducated nitwit with a Napoleonic complex and 50 gallon cowboy hat.

If true, this is 1,000 times worse than the Obama-era agreement Trump called the worst ever. Trump is a coward and a fool.
Iran’s Mehr news agency publishes the purported text of the draft agreement with Trump. It will keep the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian control, will promise Iran $300 billion in reconstruction money in addition to an immediate cash transfer of $24 billion, a suspension of sanctions and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Middle East. Also, a commitment not to bother Iran again about its missiles and proxies, and restraining Israel in Lebanon. The U.S. gets in exchange a pinky promise to respect the NPT. Let’s see what happens in coming days. Link: mehrnews.com/news/6857718 Full text: A permanent and immediate cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon. A U.S. commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Full lifting of the naval blockade within 30 days. A U.S. commitment to withdraw its forces from areas surrounding Iran. Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under arrangements determined by Iran. Suspension of sanctions on the sale of oil, petrochemical products, and related derivatives, along with full Iranian access to the resulting financial revenues. The United States and its allies would be required to present reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300 billion. A 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a final agreement covering nuclear issues and the complete removal of U.S. primary and secondary sanctions, as well as the repeal of relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors. Reaffirmation by Iran of its commitment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) not to produce nuclear weapons. During the negotiation period, the United States would commit not to deploy additional forces to the region and not to impose any new sanctions. The release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets during the 60-day final negotiation period. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before negotiations begin. Establishment of a monitoring mechanism to oversee implementation of the agreement. The final agreement would be approved through a UN Security Council resolution. Final negotiations would not begin before the release of half of Iran’s frozen assets, the suspension of oil sanctions, and the lifting of the naval blockade. The final agreement would focus exclusively on the future of enriched nuclear material and uranium enrichment, sanctions relief, and a program for rebuilding Iran’s economy. Discussion of Iran’s missile program and its support for resistance groups would be definitively excluded from the agenda. As stated by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, this text still requires review and final approval by the relevant authorities in Iran.

One day we will look back at this time and will remember how we responded. Did you find your spine or did you punch down? Did you apologize to a bully or did you find your feet. Finding strength in the darkness and conviction in a storm weatherproofs a society.
