Australia doing pretty well in the AI race! Ahead of Canada on a per-capita basis.
Replying to @Hesamation
Better version without arbitrary institution cutoff, some data cleaning and splitting contribution of each paper among institutions. China USA dominant ofc, but looks a bit different, doesn't it?

aah, fun to revisit old revolutionize products.
Amazing!! Deep Learning-based NLP techniques are going to revolutionize the way we write software. Here's Deep TabNine, a GPT-2 model trained on around 2 million files from GitHub. Details at tabnine.com/blog/deep #nlproc

Iโ€™ll be presenting our work on Token Distillation for tokenizer transfer tomorrow at #ICLR! ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Com by our poster on Friday 3:15pm in Pavilion 3, Poster 113 Also come chat with me anytime about tokenizer transfer, embeddings, multilingual models or efficient architectures!
Add tokens to an LLM without retraining the whole model. We introduce Token Distillation: attention-aware input embeddings for new tokens that match the modelโ€™s original behavior. How does it work? Check out the thread!

With AI, science will need entirely new incentives. Scientists still seek scientific credit. But in the future humans will have a different role. Publications e.g. are just synthetic data for human consumption. โ€“ @kyosu w/ Lara Sophie Bothur, @ymatias, @fabian_theis, Klaus-Robert Mรผller, @alena_buyx @ Google AI Center Berlin opening event

Should governments impose an LLM token tax? ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ If AI gradually replaces important parts of human work, we'll need other forms of taxation. Per token? Important discussion by @akorinek, Anna Salomons, @DianeCoyle1859 with @kncukier recently at #IASEAI2026 at UNESCO in Paris.

We almost certainly won't make AI safe by making safe AI. Others are still going to create unsafe AI! โ€“ @StephenLCasper at #IASEAI2026 Open-Weight AI Risk Management Workshop (w/ Concordia AI @RishiBommasani) I led one of the discussion groups and we had some nice new ideas of how to make open weight models safe ๐Ÿ˜Š

AI bots used to persuade humans to email famous AI researchers. Now they send emails themselves, claiming sentience etc. (Stuart Russell) This growing agency brings profound risks, the theme of #IASEAI2026 AI bots do not have any ID, are not traceable: Should this be regulated? (@ghadfield)

The #ICLR2026 #OpenReview drama continues! After the leak of anonymous reviewer identities, it is understandable that we need to mitigate potential effects this may have had. Still disappointing for the majority of authors who played by the rules. Let's hope the ACs do a good job!

Summit on European Digital Sovereignty ๐Ÿค”Any tangible results or is it all just talk? Sadly, politics runs slower than industry/academia. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐ŸฝBut discussions/declarations aren't meaningless. They set the conditions for taking sovereignty more seriously in the future.
