The speed of innovation from the #osgeo community on raster data at the moment is amazing.
I'm using rio-tiler to build a serverless and tileless raster tile server...being able to have a single file for queries and visualisation is game changing. Plan to share learnings soon!

My college GIS professor said on the first day of class, GIS is about "informing decision making processes", the process is of doing so is secondary. Didn't realize at the time, but its the most important lesson I've learned.
