President Ruto’s first day of the State Visit to Finland has already delivered strategic agreements on education, digital innovation, climate action, healthcare, trade, & investment. In recognition of his leadership, he was also awarded the Helsinki City Medal. Key outcomes: Education – Equipping more young Kenyans with skills for the modern workforce through enhanced collaboration in technical & vocational training, teacher development, competency-based learning, & educational innovation. Digitisation & Innovation – Creating new opportunities for youth & entrepreneurs by expanding cooperation in digital public services, emerging technologies, secure connectivity, & innovation ecosystems. Healthcare – Improving access to quality healthcare through increased collaboration in universal health coverage, maternal & child health, mental health, medical research, & local pharmaceutical & vaccine manufacturing. Trade & Investment – Creating jobs & unlocking new economic opportunities by strengthening commercial ties, expanding business partnerships, & attracting investment. Climate Action & Green Growth – Building resilience to climate change & supporting sustainable development through stronger partnerships in the circular economy, bio-economy, environmental sustainability, & resource efficiency.

To those who ask, “Inatusaidia aje?” Here’s a classic example of Presidential diplomacy: creating opportunities for Kenyans. Ahead of the Finland–Kenya Business Forum, President Ruto met business leaders in technology, digital infrastructure & investment. Opening doors to markets, capital & partnerships firms would struggle to access alone.

Together with President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya, I took part in a panel discussion on the United Nations and mediation. President Ruto and I share a vision of a stronger United Nations, with decision-making that reflects the realities of today’s world. It is clear that the African continent must have a stronger voice – starting with two permanent seats on the Security Council.

Ahead of the Finland–Kenya Business Forum in Helsinki, I met with business leaders shaping Kenya’s digital future who are joining my delegation to engage with their Finnish counterparts. The delegation brings together leading actors from Kenya’s technology, connectivity, data infrastructure, financial services and investment sectors. Collectively, they represent the innovation, capital and expertise driving Kenya’s emergence as a leading innovation and technology hub on the African continent. Our discussions focused on strengthening partnerships that expand digital infrastructure, accelerate innovation, attract investment and unlock new opportunities for businesses and citizens. Kenya comes to Finland with a clear commitment to building mutually beneficial partnerships that advance economic growth, technological progress and shared prosperity.
