New Recall Sessions — and a first for the show. @sniyogi sits down with two founders building competing AI-native CRMs. @camplejohn is the Founder & CEO of Coffee. He ran Sales Cloud at Salesforce as EVP & GM, and before that led Sales Navigator at LinkedIn. He's had four exits, including Fliptop (acquired by LinkedIn) and Mi5 Networks (acquired by Symantec). @patrickt010 is the Co-Founder & CEO of @getclarify. He co-founded Iteratively, a customer data platform acquired by Amplitude in 2021, and earlier led design for Jira at Atlassian. Both went from running products with massive customer bases to doing founder-led sales all over again. "CRM has been a lie from the beginning. It's not about customers, it's not about relationships. It should just be called M." "You can vibe code a CRM in a weekend. Congratulations. You just created a contact manager — 1987 version of ACT." Full episode links below:

The $100B CRM market is the deeply entrenched crown jewel of SaaS. The logic of seat-based pricing is so entrenched that almost nobody questions it. But when AI agents can do the work, should we update the ‘pay-per-human-seat’ model? Clarify is a next-gen CRM that’s giving their product away for free. - Unlimited seats. - Unlimited records. The CRM itself costs $0 *except* their AI. Anytime their AI agent does work for you, you pay for it in ‘credits’. In the early days of Atlassian, Clarify’s founder Patrick Thompson saw their legacy stack buckle under the weight of their PLG motion. Their solution wasn’t designed to handle the volume of data being created and quickly became unusable. Clarify is flexible enough to support event data, product usage, Stripe billing, marketing analytics, etc. into a single context layer. That data infrastructure enables the AI to do all sorts of useful work, which is what makes their “free” pricing model possible. Full Breakdown in comments for one of my favourite examples of an AI pricing model with ’aligned incentives’👇

My unfair advantage used to be my meeting recorder It would take notes, summarize action items, and draft a follow-up email It worked OK. Great transcripts, good summaries But six months in I realized I had an entire archive of recordings I never opened I'd be on a sales call, then hop into our CRM to update the deal. And I'd think "wait, what did they say about timeline again?" I’d have to go back to the recorder, find the meeting, skim the transcript, copy the info, paste into our CRM It drove me nuts Then someone told me about Clarify - a new AI CRM on the market At first I was skeptical - another CRM, really? But the meeting recorder is built INTO the CRM interface So now when I talk to someone, the recording lives on their company page - next to our deal notes No more tab switching - it’s an unfair advantage The crazy part is that it reads the transcripts and updates deals automatically, generates tasks, and pulls out action items. And it's free. I keep waiting for the catch, but there isn't one. Anyway, if you're a founder and need a tool that punches above its price point - check it out.

Loved the chance to collaborate with @patrickt010 and @getclarify on this one. Although we started from different points, we arrived at the same truth: the best early-stage work isn't pitching investors - it's actively listening to customers and building signal day after day. open.substack.com/pub/patric…

I co-published a piece on the importance of founder communities with @patrickt010 from @getclarify Bottom line: Being a founder is the loneliest job in world. The only cure is to find a sense of belonging with similarly maniacal individuals that you resonate with.

if you don’t think @getclarify is gonna kill salesforce that’s fine but some ai native company is definitely going to kill salesforce.
So Salesforce is hiring 1,000 more salespeople to sell AI software ... that is supposed to reduce the need for humans and replace them with agents
