Agreed. The 10 year development cycle of bleeding money all to bank on the release of a niche game costing $40-70 to hope to come out profitable isn't a sustainable process. The idea that "budget = quality = profit" has been debunked over and over again.
This is gonna sound harsh but all these layoffs need to happen not just at Xbox but at all other AAA game studios
The budgets are too big, too many meaningless jobs, too much reliance on streaming services, games take too long to make, and an overall abandonment of what made gaming great in the first place which is just making fun games for players and not their peers
Things are always worse before they get better so I for welcome the reset thatโs happening
