We can’t believe it’s been a year since our Charing Cross run! Cherishing beautiful #gloryridemusical memories...& excited to create new ones, very soon ❤️
I was unfamiliar with the story of Gino Bartali until last year I saw @gloryrideshow the musical based on his life. It is a moving production which shows how someone can use their talent and fame as a way to combat evil.
🇮🇹 With the Tour de France starting in Florence today, we remember the Tuscan professional cyclist Gino Bartali and his role in saving Italian Jews in the Second World War.
Gino was born in Ponte a Ema, a small village south of Florenceand he became a professional racer in 1935. winning the Giro d'Italia in 1936 and the Tour de France in 1938. However, Bartali had no sympathies for the regime. He didn't dedicate his win to Italian Fascist leader Benito Mussolini, as tradition dictated, and consequently, he received no honours upon his return to Italy. 1/3
Would recommend to everyone @gloryrideshow , a musical that tells Bartali’s story.
Saw it last July at the Charing Cross Theatre and another run is “on the horizon.”
24 years ago today, Gino Bartali departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of hope, bravery, and kindness. His grace and gallantry will never be forgotten. Grazie, Gino. #gloryrideshow#ginobartali#hero#legacy
