Sharing our computer vision system design for TRON: Ares.
We approached these shots from the perspective of the machine. The frame becomes a field of observation. Every pixel is potential information waiting to be interpreted.
The process begins by squarepacking the live action plates, dividing the image into a computational lattice. Once the grid exists, the system begins to read. Targets emerge. Motion vectors form. Signals ripple through layers of analysis.
Inside these overlays lives the source code of the system itself. Streams of logic, fragments of instruction, the internal language of the machine. At times the imagery dissolves directly into that code, as if the world itself is being rewritten from within. Visual information collapses into structure, then reconstructs again as data.
Scanning pulses move across the frame. Timers react. Coordinates lock. Each layer is part of a larger ecosystem of perception, constantly processing, evaluating, and iterating.
The goal was maximum detail and living systems. Interfaces that breathe, think, and evolve in real time.

They said photography wasn’t art.
They said cinema wasn’t art.
They said video games weren’t art.
Now they say AI arts/digital art isn’t art.
I’ve spent over a decade with my studio team turning millions of data points into living, breathing artwork experiences ethically — at MoMA, at the Guggenheim, at the Venice Biennale. Not because a machine told me what to create, but because I had a vision that no traditional tool could realize.
Denying all AI technologies as an artistic medium doesn’t protect art. It limits it. The artists who embrace new tools don’t replace the old masters — they join them.
Art is not defined by the brush. It’s defined by the intention, the emotion, and the courage to see the world differently.

FUTURE of SPACE welcomed GMUNK as the resident artist aboard a private voyage through the Galápagos, a journey not of tourism, but of immersion.
Through full-spectrum photography and a machine-learning process called Breathing, hidden wavelengths were drawn into view. Light beyond sight. Spectra beneath the surface. The islands unfolded as a primordial system of pulse, pattern, and becoming.

Node in Palo Alto and Zero10 at Art Basel Miami were powerful reminders of how alive this space is, with exceptional digital works, thoughtful curation, and real community energy in the room. Seeing people gather in person, exchange ideas, and celebrate the work felt deeply affirming.
When Nifty Gateway announced its closure, the community’s response, and Nifty’s willingness to listen and recalibrate, highlighted how much shared history and care exists here. The early Nifty era was a beautiful chapter for many artists and collectors, and one that feels worth preserving.
Over the past year and a half, between an all-consuming film project (TRON: Ares) and welcoming our second son, I couldn’t be as involved here as I wanted. Grateful for the patience, energized by what I’ve seen, and looking forward to being more present again. ❤️

A form holds the field.
Light responds. Atmosphere activates.
The Rivian sits still while the environment does the moving. Lasers carve the air, fog holds the form, and wind edits the composition in real time. Light stacks, dissolves, reforms. Nothing repeats. The space stays alive.
This is not something to view.
It is something to enter.
Light behaving like weather.
Design meeting the elements.
