The superficial muscles of the trunk such as the lats and the abs both contribute to power generation in the swing through short duration, rapid contractions. Use exercises which will produce adaptations conducive to this! 🚀

The lats and posterior shoulder/scapula muscles serve important roles in the golf swing. Maximising muscle development here requires a range of exercises to address all regions.

For example, there are thoracic, lumbar and pelvic regions of the latissimus dorsi due to its multiple origins so utilising a mix of shoulder extension and adduction exercises in particular is key 🔑

Adductor bridge
The adductors likely have an important role in both stability and propulsion during the downswing.

“A force couple is a skill”
Golfers use the ground to create force couples, but all have their own unique reliance how they do this to generate torque.

Inappropriate use of the ground, particularly a lack of anterior-posterior force coupling can contribute to unfavourable movement behaviours like early extension. However, in this scenario will more horizontally orientated strength exercises help?
