Did you know? BME doctors were TWICE as likely to receive a complaint or be referred to the GMC compared to their white colleagues. That difference more pronounced when from EMPLOYER aka NHS- than the public. Let's be clear how biased that data looks And not make excuses

An important reminder to all in the @NHSuk when under pressure to do extra, that your family, friends and self are first priority in your life. Your clinical role is replaceable. #retention #recruitment @BMA_Consultants

"living with" these levels of infections - even for only a few weeks - is incredibly disruptive for all industries and downright dangerous in ones like healthcare. You cannot legislate for people to not feel ill and nor can you legislate away how long they are infectious for.
BREAKING: A very serious situation at hospitals across Lincolnshire tonight as @ULHT_News declares a 'critical incident' over "extreme and unprecedented" staff shortages. It says it is "unable to maintain safe staffing levels" leading to "compromised care" across its sites:

“myths that legitimize inequity include the concept of a meritocracy — the idea that success is based primarily on a person’s abilities, which ignores the effects of structural racism on opportunities” I frequently go round in circles when talking about this @AfzaliBehdad

THANK YOU mystery book-giver for this gem! This one is interesting because in it's attempt to convice the reader, it highlights the logical fallacies (1955) that are STILL the bedrock of UFO/UAP advocates. Here's a few (thread):

Last night I watched #DontLookUp. It was like seeing my adult life flash past me. Even down to the morning TV show where I totally lost it while trying, for the 1000th time, to explain what climate breakdown would do. All the anger, the frustration, the desperation: I feel it.

Inspirational from ⁦@JohnJCrace⁩ A stark reminder that the struggle doesn’t end for those who are clean. Thank you for writing this. “I was a heroin addict and had given up on myself. Then suddenly, briefly, I felt a desire to live” theguardian.com/lifeandstyle…

7 year old daughter drew this picture of “Santa” yesterday. Seriously hoping this freak didn’t emerge from anyone’s fireplace this Christmas morning to… you know… feast on people.

Got the classic "rare disease" line of questioning at my gyno today. Please for the love of God stop asking chronically ill patients who coordinates our care. No one does. No one. They just splice up our bodies piecemeal and send us to the next specialist. 1/4

Our Handbook of Refugee Health has been delivered to Tower Hamlets GP’s for xmas - a thoughtful gift to all local practices @ehoque007 With almost 1 in 2 borough residents born outside the UK ( proportion forced migrants), hope it’s a useful resource for maximising care

On Friday 15th May 2020 at 1 pm we held a minute’s silence on our ward (and throughout our hospital) in memory of those who died from Covid - little did we know that the PM & friends were enjoying a garden party that same afternoon.

"This is sometimes said by people who have no understanding of health at all... and when they say it, it's usually because they want to make a political point." Prof. Chris Whitty responds to concerns that the NHS is prioritising Covid other serious health issues such as cancer.
