NASA's brand from 1977 still feels like it's from the future they even mapped out every detail in a 60 page manual

the manual's here to read: nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/… what I found most interesting was how there was this world of rockets, planes, equipment and tools that all needed branding and careful thought. and they figured out how to get them to all tell the same story

I have a soft spot for narrative writing and one classic lesson they teach you is show, don't tell @reve really nails that here new image model? ok show us hundreds of artfully curated images that form vignettes of imagined lives

Today, we’re launching Reve 2.0, the best 4K image model in the world. We invented a new way to generate and edit any image using precise layouts. For the first time, it’s possible to create images you can touch.

this is my mom and a very young me at an art museum (the met in nyc) my parents met in art school, built careers in photography and visual art, and shared their love of art and design with me from the beginning. what I found myself drawn to most was the art that had an opinion on how the world could be better, even if it was in a small way. when I got to stanford I learned about product design. designing software felt like making art, but with the goal of bringing a useful thing into the world great design and art are thoughtful in the opinion they form on where the world should go. forming that opinion is part of the thrill, and helping more people who design bring their vision to reality is why I started @designrivet but it all started with my mom, dad and an art museum, and I'm grateful for it all
why do you guys design? what's your why?

the end state of a designer with AI tooling is absolutely not a glorified frontend engineer the people advocating for this future tend to be more manager types rather than individual designers designers I talk with want to curate and explore in code. not implement

now is an excellent time to pay attention to the beautiful components that Micka is composing fluidfunctionalism.com
New component: AskUserQuestions - Clear affordance between single select and multi select - Keyboard powered - Seamless "other" option - Fluid Functionalism's proximity hover - Inline or stacked descriptions - Motion and subtle animation just on what matters Open source: Link in thread ↓

it's an open secret that a tenet of great design is subtraction knowing what to cut is just as useful as knowing what to keep let's find more stories about people who had the courage to hold the standard and say no, and then built an iconic product
