ALT I'm an influencer, content creator and diversity advocate that specialises in telling unique stories through gaming highlights, product features, unboxings and spotlighting diverse games, characters and talent across the world, specifically in relation to women and POC in games. I haven't worked on a game from a dev POV but have helped promote a variety of games, specifically within the Xbox ecosystem, as an influencer and Xbox MVP/Ambassador, as well as champion games featuring women and POC characters as a way to amplify underrepresented cultures, backgrounds and stories to the world. This month reminds me of the collective talent within the Asian diaspora and the shared stories and experiences that help bring us all together. It helps to paint a picture that human beings are more than one shade, with rich cultural identities and histories that have helped shaped the world in which we live in today.

AAPI Heritage Month is the time of the year when I feel like our communities get loud and more bold. We take up space, we connect with each other, and a sense of energy is injected into the community. I love finding out about people and projects I’ve never heard of before. I love feeling like there are new opportunities and possibilities for us. Games, writing—when I was younger it never felt like a possibility. Basically, it’s about uncovering a past that was hidden or buried, and celebrating the momentum, people, and beautiful cultures we have now.

ALT I am an on-cam host for video game, anime and entertainment events. I was on Netflix’s The Circle and Is She The Wolf? I also do on-cam gaming, esports, and anime events. I hosted E3 (2021), major Valorant (Riot Games), and Rainbow Six Siege (Ubisoft) events and have done a ton of on-cam work with Amazon, Reddit, Playstation, Sega, Razer, AMD, Intel Gaming, Razer, Elgato and more. AAPI heritage month is about uplifting and supporting my fellow AAPI, making them feel seen, heard and appreciated and LOVED.

ALT Luiza: As an environment artist, I try to create immersive worlds where players can feel a sense of belonging. I have worked on Palia, Smite, Paladins, and other unreleased titles. What AAPIHM means to me: it gives me an opportunity to feel closer to my heritage and celebrate all the different AAPIHM cultures. As a game dev, I always fight for the representation and thoughtful implementation of Asian cultures in games.

ALT Marion My Anh: I have been a community and social media manager for 6 years, I also created and co-founded Project AWR. I have worked on Rainbow Six: Siege, For Honor, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Payday 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and other titles. AAPIHM means a lot to me. I was adopted in Vietnam and raised in France and I didn't connect with my roots until 2020 or 2021, so it's important to me to see AAPI folks share their stories and experiences and to be able to interact with and learn from them. I want to help people feel like their voice is worth being heard.

ALT Avani Jain: I’m a Producer specializing in art, animation, and external development management and a Women in Games global ambassador. I have worked on games within the Call of Duty franchise. AAPI Heritage Month is important because it highlights and celebrates the work of those within the AAPI Community. It’s a way to recognize all the important work people are doing through a broader lens. Growing up, my exposure to successful people who looked like me was limited to certain fields, but now I see a wide range of talent across industries. I always feel inspired when I see people of similar backgrounds going against the status quo and finding success.

ALT Dr JC Lau: I am a senior advanced producer and industry leader with a focus on driving for healthy, sustainable, and empowered teams who can do their best work. I have worked on Destiny 2, BattleTech, The Lamplighters League I'm technically not Asian-American, and "A" in AAPIHM that stands for "American" never meant much to me because being part of the Asian diaspora means that there is more to us that the countries we (or our elders) emigrated to. I see this as a time for us to acknowledge where we came from, honor our elders and traditions, and celebrate our bright future by increasing our visibility and impact, and by lifting each other up.
